Thoughts on weed for depression?
If your mind is already unstable weed can open doors in your mind that can be scary,or it may just chill you out 🎶✌🏼
Agree with Alan234. I have heard bad things about some strains, the stronger stuff; I have heard less bad things about the lighter stuff ; so I guess it really depends on each individual. I have not tried it myself but tried cannabidol which is like weed but without the stuff in it that makes you "high" ( it is legal in the UK and in many other places and does not contain any element which is the illegal part)
it didn't really do anything either way for me but it was expensive. Most of it just seemed to make its way out of my system pretty quickly if you understand my meaning. However I know it has helped some with depression and also many people with chronic pain swear by it; so it's all down to how we react individually.
Yes. In the longer term it makes depression worse! x
Don’t smoke rich high THC sativa strains, they will increase your negative thoughts since sativa is head high. Try micro-dosing on indica strains with some % of thc and see the wonderful benefits. Or atleast if you live in USA in a legal state go get some fresh high CBD strains. CBD will helps a lot for anxiety and depression.
I agree that there are some good benefits.....and even though I won't take the THC now, only the CBD.... if I had the nausea and horrible pain from cancer a good friend of mine did, I'd be taking the oral form for sure.
And to be honest a little dose of THC would be beneficial as like the CBD. But high dose of strong THC will have a negative things for sure if you suffer from anxiety & depression.
if my pain level gets too high at some point in my life as I am riddled with arthritis and carpal tunnel....and it becomes legal where I live....then yes...I may go that route.....
Some people might think that THC the main active ingredient found in cannabis is only to gets you high and with no benefits, in fact people might think it's only do damage. It's true that it stimulates your mind but THC is medicinal ingredient and beneficial as CBD but the different is that it have psychoactive ingredient.
I started smoking pot when I was 15.... I am now in my mid sixties, I don't smoke now. I am an OG hippie....and back in the day....it was just a way of living life as we were artists back then and mind expansion was good weed and mushrooms.... I have tried other stuff, but didn't care for it. I have been an herbalist since I was 15 as well. I had always known the benefits of natural healing and cannabis has been used for centuries. After many years of drugs and alcohol and self medicating...I wasn't getting better, my depression was getting worse...so I went into recovery. So today because I am clean and sober.... I wouldn't consider THC.....as it is a high. But no judgement from me what so ever, and I am an advocate for natural healing....and still think weed is better than drinking.
Wow I believe it was a good time in that era. Anyways, today cannabis is very different and strong then it was in that time you used to smoke it. I wish to learn more about herbs and being herbalist. Alcohol is far more worse than weed for sure. As being said, low dose of THC with CBD will be beneficial for sure. If I'm doctor who prescribes cannabis as medicine, even me wouldn't consider THC for healing, since people suffering from a disorder it would be hard to handle it and causes more negative things.
I had briefly tried medical weed about 10 years ago....as my doctor had said it may help with my nausea and migraines...and yep....it's strong. I also tried the suckers and the chocolate. But just didn't want to get into it again as I was sober and at the time didn't want to risk it. So even though it was my doctor approving it, I decided to go the SSRI route instead. I did try recently though the low dose CBD oil and will try the more concentrated solution...there is no high and it did help.
There are specific strains to uplift you. I would recommend blue dream. Maui wowie. Strawberry cough and a solid hybrid like og kush and Dutch treat. I medicate with cannabis it helpa on the super bad days ans daily use keeps my head at bay
I agree with micro dosing. Small amounts of high and strains bring forth nellowness and have no psychological effects except to help balance you out and help fight pain. Indicas are for getting you and your body to fully wind down. Some sativas work like I suggested but everyone is different
You need to be aware you are using an unregulated chemical which is altering your perceptions. The general conception seems to be that marijuana is safe with no bad side. It's worth remembering it is drug which is untested and pernicious.
if you don't want the THC high, you can use CBD oil at 10-15% solution. If you have a medical use card....go for it. I personally don't smoke or take any THC products and don't drink....but being an herbalist....I cannot dispute the medicinal qualities of the plant.
Living in California for the past 50 years, yes, I have many thoughts on the use of weed for many things.
My observations have been that weed has many applications, but I don't feel unsupervised use for depression is one of them. Too many of the people I know that use weed lose their ambition. They lose any sense of urgency, and are content to just let the world go by. Then, they reach a point where they start caring, and realize life has passed them by: they have no family, their only friends just want to get high, they have no skills to generate a living other than in the shabbiest of conditions. You can become addicted, and that is no help. Also, smoking weed can cause lung problems similar to smoking cigarettes.
I firmly believe weed and alcohol are closely related in their ability to help resolve emotional problems. They cause more problems than they solve. Physical problems are another story. My daughter uses a weed byproduct for severe chronic pain, and it's almost like a miracle!
That said, research is starting to show benefits of weed in many areas, depression one of them. Supervised treatment may bring some relief. I would NOT even hint that self medicating would be beneficial.
Are you in a state that allows the use of weed for medical purposes? If so, ask your medical professional for recommendations. If not, maybe your depression warrants excursions or moving to states where the use is allowed.
Best fortune to you
I’m looking into no thc CBD oil.
I’m definitely more creative that’s for sure haha!😜
