I haven't a clue. I didn't know they prescribe morphine for depression? x

It's difficult to say with so little information. Are you prescribed morphine for medical reasons or are you self medicating with it? It's a strong drug and has it's own withdrawal characteristics and side effects.

because morphine is the great escape...similar to opium and heroin. No judgement from me what so ever, and in no way am I promoting any program of recovery, that has to be the individuals choice. The problem is that when you want to deal with any emotional stuff, like abuse, trauma, death, that does contribute to our pre-existing condition of depression, (which is a chemical imbalance in the brain)....we are not able to because the drug or drink has our emotions masked and subdued. I am in recovery from addiction/alcohol for decades. I'm an old hippie.... one that is still alive from that era because I did get sober and clean. But for me to say that it's wrong is baloney...that is an individual choice, and I don't preach sobriety....it's just what I did for me.

Morphine is highly addictive. I have never heard it prescribed for depression. I would speak to your doctor about this.

Whoa Danielle17, morphine being a high power drug may help one issue only to replace it with another, addiction. I would seriously have a talk with your doctor or seek a second opinion. There's got to be something in between psych meds and morphine. Want to keep you safe xx

Hi danielle my father was put on morphine for pain and became really tired and irritable . Everyone is different and I know that it's a dopamine booster via some indirect path which can decrease or increase anxiety depending on your bodies response. I know that people use phenibut like this and some who abuse it become dependent. ( It has a long action time too and some can get the effect of calm or tiredness dependent on their situational context.

I don't get a dopamine high but know by reading about opoids that others do and these individuals can easily fall into the trap of escalating doses to chase this short lived high.

Don't go iincreasing does or taking it multiple times or you may fall into the trap of getting seriously addicted.

It's not solving your emotional problems and can sap your drive if you take it regular.

It can lead you up the path of addiction if you've got that type of personality.

Use it to help you make changes to your life not to mask your problems. x

Thank you all
