Question about depression

So my experience with depression is kind of new so sometimes I don't understand it. During the day the intensity can fluctuate with mornings being the hardest. 1 hour it will feel so heavy and then the next hour it's lighter. Does depression have to be 24/7? Any feedback would be so helpful. Thank you everyone for being so supportive.

In my experience with depression it comes to me late at night all the time or something random will set me off during the day. The biggest thing that can help is to actually talk about your problems and don't keep them bottled up because a lot of people have been through the same thing that you're going through.

no, not 24X7, not in my case...because it is not deep one, it is like a bout of depression, which can hit you any time of the day and even for a few minutes or hours and then let go. Mornings are the hardest, true. If it is 24X7 ---it is much worse level of depression. But depression can suck you in, meaning get worse if it is not taken care of. I had that experience many years ago, but after this first experience i have never had it as bad as this first time. I think because i have learned how not to let it to consume me, take steps at the beginning. As with any disease, it is better to start treatment when it is not advanced stage.

Evenings are the worse for me. Sometimes during the day it'll sneak up on me too.

Talking and not keeping it in helps. I have trouble letting go of my past. I wish it was easy for me to just let it go. I keep torturing myself.

Hugs to you.

everyone is different but mine not 24/7 sometimes I'll be okay for hours and other times I only get about 20 minutes out of the day where I'm doing alright. Rarely do I have an entire day that I feel alright but everyone is different so what your experiencing sounds reasonable to me. some days are harder than others and often times days or more like some HOURS are harder than others.

When I’m depressed, it’s usually 24/7. I drop down quickly and stay there. Miserable disease! I don’t recover until I begin to change my thinking and start making myself do the things I know will help. It’s all or nothing here...

I think everyone's experience with depression is different, aside from the common symptoms, it effects people in unique ways. I too suffered from a wide range of depression and it was 24/7 for a long time. Mine was worse when anxiety and panic attacks jumped on board. Have you found anything that helps relax you and get you out of the dark? When depression hits hard the last thing I want to do is get up but I find that by forcing myself to move, listen to happy music, take a shower, or go for a walk helps me so very much. My favorite time is first thing in the morning when the sun shines on my face, have you ever stepped out at that time and just breath? I know depression is awful, especially when it is non-stop, but you are not alone in this. This group is here for you.

Thanks so much for your response. For sure I try and help myself and being outside definitely helps. Stepping outside in the morning might be tough but I can certainly try. I hope you're having better days this week 💜

It has been a little overwhelming with school work piling up, I have been putting it off some but it only makes me feel worse. :) My goal for today is to knock out some assignments and get caught up. The morning sun feels so good, you will love it.
