Hi I’m Kayla I’m new here and I’m not sure where to start so here it goes .
Waking up everyday being emotionally numb. Wondering when you’ll be able to be normal again . Before I got on all these medications I was able to feel. Who knew medication could take your feelings away.

welcome Spirit... what kind of meds are you on.... I do know I had that happen to me on a beta blocker... could not feel emotions... and I'm an emotional person... didn't like it.
Have you called the prescribing doctor to ask about how you’re feeling? I would. It certainly won’t hurt to do so. Remember that you’re never alone here. Someone is always willing to listen. I’m so sorry that you’re feeling numb. If you don’t mind my asking, why are you on beta blockers?
Yes...it isn’t good to have a fast resting heart rate. The medication will make you feel slowed down in general. Do you think it’s a matter of feeling slowed down and sluggish?
Yes ma’am, I’m always tired and takes forever to get out of bed . Takes a lot of motivation as well , I tell myself depression will win if I don’t push myself to do things .
You’re right, we do have to push ourselves! Otherwise, we wouldn’t do very much! You should get used to the beta blocker and that will help. Try setting small, achievable goals for each day. Are you dwelling on the past or the future? Live in today. Don’t give up, keep moving forward...
I try so hard to push myself to keep going but my thoughts take over and I shut down . I am thinking about the past a lot it’s affected me so much . I feel like it’s ruined my life .
There you go, my friend! You must let go of the past. Worrying/dwelling on it will keep you depressed. The past is gone, cannot be altered, and wastes good mental energy. Start living today! Start over with a positive outlook. Please stay out of the past as it stunts our emotional growth on our journey to healing from depression. Mark it off as lessons learned and move on to active living! Don’t go there!! Focus on what you can do that’s positive in today...
I would tell your doctor that this is just too much on you....and if he or she could give you a lower dose of the beta blocker....and I've heard some depression meds can also do this to you....I'd talk to them about that too.... unless you have a severe heart condition... you don't need a heavy dose of beta blocker.... and yes.... I was off it for a few months as I was tired of feeling like a zombie...and the lights came back on.... but when I went back on it... I was numb emotionally again... my doctor gave it to me for my migraines.... so I could stop. I am the first to tell you that when I'm in deep with this depression on the dark side of it.... it is hard to be motivated to do anything.... but you still can feel everything... that's the problem for me... I feel too much.
Hey Kayla, I am also Kayla! 😜 Welcome to the site! We are a supportive little group of people here & we are here to listen to you! Feel free to message me anytime you need to talk to someone! Stay strong xo
How long have you been on these meds? I would definitely talk to your doctor who prescribed them because it could be that the doses are too high for you or that you need a different type/class of meds - everyone reacts so differently and you may be more sensitive to certain types. If your prescribing doc won't do anything to help then find another doctor - you need to be able to be listened to and feel good - physically AND emotionally!! I hope you can begin to feel better soon....
