Hey.. so I'm new here. Figured I would give it a shot. Does anyone struggle with regulating their emotions? Just all of a sudden you're in this deep irritable and sad state that can last for hours or a whole day or more and basically it came out of nowhere and you can't pinpoint why? Any suggestions on how to pull yourself out of a state like that? Thanks.

The way I handle that is to say the serenity prayer and list all the things good in my life. I make myself realize nothing bad has happened, nothing has changed and there is no reason to be negative. I also listen to rain sounds at night to relax.
Thanks for sharing. I try to tell myself that there isn't a reason for the feelings that I am experiencing...to be so negative... but idk if it is because I'm not addressing or realizing something but I can't pull myself out of it. I'll try the list thing, seems like it could be worth a shot.
Prayer, like Melhall suggested is always good. And sometimes just going for a short walk to clear your mind. Also breathing excrercises can be good if you’re feeling overwhelmed
I do utilize the 4 count breathing exercise, do you have any other suggestions in regard to breathing exercises?
The one I use is like, in through nose 5-7 seconds, hold for 5-7, then exhale through lips like your trying to whistle. The 4 count sounds similar.. but a lot of times I’ll put on a song that makes me happy or feel good or whatever, while I’m doing the breathing excercise, not necessarily the whole song but pretty close to it with a few breaks... It’s like my meditation lol oh yeah a lot of people suggest meditation, I just haven’t tried it yet
Thank you.
