Up until five years ago my antidepression medication was prescribed by a psychiatrist. Five years ago I started seeing a neurologist for my major depressive disorder. He prescribed Viibryd and I have been on it ever since. I see him three times a year and each time I see him, I let him know about my depressive episodes. He has not changed the medication thus far. I have been experiencing depression for the last three months hoping, each day, that it will have run its course, this time. I am currently receiving psychotherapy which is helping somewhat. I do not live in the U.S. and I am planning a visit soon. I am thinking that perhaps I need to start seeing a psychiatrist instead of a neurologist. Does anyone have experience seeing a neurologist vs. a psychiatrist?

I agree seeing a psychiatrist instead of a neurologist, as it's a mental illness that would best be handled by a psychiatrist I think.
