My first day here

I've been a part of this site for about a day now and I have to say I've got really good support so far. Right now I'm going through side effects due to starting Prozac and in having a rough time.

Welcome. I hope your side effects get better soon. I know some ad's I've taken made me feel worst.

in reply tobonkers65

Thanks! I hope so too

How long you been taking it?

in reply to

I just started last week. About 3 days in I noticed the insomnia and now nausea

in reply to

I haven’t taken Prozac, but I have experienced side effects from other medications. Its like going over a hurdle after a week they lightened up for me.

in reply to

My doctor took me off of it and put me on paxil

in reply to

I was on Paxil for awhile. It wasn’t for me. It didn’t give me any side effects but wasn’t helping me.

in reply to

Hopefully I have success with it

in reply to

Yeah that’s the nature of these medications. Finding one that works is more an art than science. Indians fan?

in reply to

Yes I sure am!

in reply to

My state doesn’t have a team but we are close enough to the Yankees or the Mets. So depending on who is doing well it changes lol.

in reply to

So usually the Yankees lol

in reply to

Lol yes! Lots of Mets fans on Long Island. Jersey goes either Mets or Yankees but most are yankee fans.

Also most people on Paxil ,Zoloft ext cause weight gain so watch you diet as you’ll find yourself wanting to eat often. I gained 40lbs in a few months on Paxil.

in reply toIronj

Okay I'll keep that in mind

One of Paxil's most frequent side effects is weight gain. I hope your doctor and you monitors this. Please feel better 🏵🌻💐

Thanks so much! I'll keep that in mind

Hello Shawn

As you know having anxiety sucks .. but it can be managed with a proper therapist and medication that works. There’s so many new antidepressant out now, I’m just wondering why your Dr gave you such an old medication. Don’t get me wrong Prozac work for some people. But if your not feeling better on it but worst you should ask for a newer SSRI. I’m sure you’ve been told anxiety is not going to hurt you physically, but of course mentally it is tough to cope with. You may need a benzodiazepine as well to stop anxiety/panic attacks in there tracks. Yes they can be addictive but I’ve been on and off Xanax as needed and I’m not addicted. I think people that abuse it as a recreational drug give them a bad name. But again they work great to control anxiety and panic attacks. Best wishes

in reply toIronj

Thanks for the inspiring words. He put me on paxil today and I have klonopin

Ironj in reply to

Klonopin is very good and long acting benzodiazepine. I think you’ll be just fine once these meds kick in and you may need to modify your dosage if you not feeling better. I would keep you Dr updated often if you thing you need to up your dosage rather then wait months. The Paxil will take 2 to 4 weeks to feel the therapeutic effects. The klonopin will start working in 30 to 40 min. Has your Dr told you to take the benzodiazepine as needed not as a maintenance medication?

in reply toIronj

Yes he stressed as needed as it can be addictive

Ironj in reply to

Perfect... have you tried it yet and if so how did it work for you ?

in reply toIronj

It mellows me out but it's still not a miracle

Ironj in reply to

Your correct it will do just that take the edge off. You need to find a physiatrist that deals with cognitive behavior to get you mind in the right place. I think with the 2 meds and the specialist that deals with anxiety and panic attacks you’ll be good
