I would discuss the mood swings with your prescribing doctor. It could be you need more time to adjust or a different medicine. Everyone reacts differently. It could take time to find the correct medication.

Thankfully I have a follow up Friday. I was feeling a bit discouraged and wanted to stop them but I figured let me push till my appt. Thanks for your response!

Depending on the medication you should be careful stopping them abruptly. Especially if you are taking an SSRI. Stopping abruptly can cause some unwanted side effects.

Finding the right medication and dosage can take a little bit of time but they say it can take upwards of six weeks to feel the effects. I usually knew after four weeks if the meds would be effective. If you’re feeling the same as you did before the medication it could just mean you need a higher dose. Doctors usually start at the lower dosage just to ensure you don’t have any major side effects. Or it could be that you’ll need something else. I know it’s tough but the only advice I can offer is to be patient and make frequent follow up appointments with your doctor. I always scheduled a two to three week follow up after starting any new medication. There’s so many medications now available that I’m certain you’ll find something effective.

I actually have my follow up appt Friday I'm gonna stick it out and hopefully we can find the right side that will work for me. Thanks for responding!

Hello Tright!

There’s no easy answer or fix...it’s all so confusing! I know how you feel. Are the meds helping your depression/anxiety at all? If they are, I would continue on your current path and hope for adjustment. I would give the meds a little longer. If you don’t feel better eventually, I would discuss with the doctor who prescribed the meds. You may need them changed. Hang in there! Wishing you the best 🌷🌞🌷

Thanks! I'm trying my best to hang in there. Sometimes I get discouraged but I'm gonna push thru.

Be sure to be very honest with your doctor about how the medications are making you feel when you follow up. It can take a while sometimes to find the right medication. Sometimes I was on medicines that I don't think were right for me but when I was younger I wasn't good at tracking how the medications were affecting me. Now I watch them much more closely and make sure to tell my doctor exactly how they are making me feel. Luckily I have finally found a good doctor that listens and is not afraid to change things up if need be. But also, medications can take a while to reach their full effect. Like sari's take about a month usually to take effect and then sometimes you have to up the dose and then wait some more. Finding the right medicine can be life changing though. Sometimes I really wish I didn't have to take medicine. But when I have tried going off it got bad again. I have to remember just like any illness you need medicine for like diabetes and high blood pressure I need it for my illness.
