I’m new here! Long history of chronic depression and anxiety. I’m 73 now. Specifically right now I have a question about Vybriid.

I took Zoloft for many years. Got off that after having genetic testing which showed that there were 3 meds most likely to help me. Pristiq, Vybriid and one other. I tried Pristiq which didn’t seem to help and was extremely constipating. I cut down the Pristiq to 50 mgs every other day. My doctor prescribed Vybriid. I took one dose and immediately felt very sick, which I thought was food poisoning. It went on for about 4-5 days. I only took the one dose and I think that I forgot to take anymore Pristiq because I felt so awful. Then I called my doctor who said “it’s withdrawal from Pristiq, take a pill now and you should feel better by the end of the day” And I did. But I can’t remember if I was taking the Pristiq every other day before that Vybriid pill.

Have been on lowest dose of Pristiq, 25 mgs daily now for several months and do not feel good. So I thought I would try Vybriid again, but am quite nervous about it. I would not taper the Pristiq until after at least a week of Vybriid. This is with my psychiatrist’s advice of course, but I do not have a lot of faith in this doctor.

Any suggestions or similar experiences most welcome!

Thank you

I am sorry that you had such a hard time with meds.....it happens...and your best bet on finding out about side effects with a medication is to honestly ask your doctor and also to google it....one person reacts to the very same medication differently, so even if someone tells you how it effected them, they are not you....it may effect you differently. I would just follow through with what your doctor recommends you do.....and be mindful of making sure you take care to not abruptly stop taking either medication unless you doctor recommends it. Withdrawals can be very much like feeling like you have the flu. And who knows if you didn't actually have the flu when you first took the new med....you don't know really.

Thank you, I feel a little better after reading your reply! And I decided not to start the Vybriid right now.
