Hi everyone!

I have had anxiety for over 10 years and possibly have hormonal problems I am in between jobs and start a new job next week that is creating some anxiety. It’s the dam job I’ve been doing, but at a different school and a further drive. Any advice for someone who has experienced a similar situation? Or someone who has anxiety with hormonal problems-what have you done that helps?

Hi. Have you felt like this previously with your older job(s)?

Yes I did. I’m someone who likes to have a routine and the anticipation of starting a new job has created anxiety.

When you started that job, you had anxiety. After awhile, did the anxiety went away?

And I totally understand what you mean by routine. It feels safer and more reassuring than things that aren't. I get anxiety when I started my current job too cause I was afraid of messing up.

The anxiety did eventually go away after I got into a routine and made friends.

I am glad it eventually went away. I think the best way to help with this type of anxiety, the fear of change, the fear of a new job is remembering is is temporary and that you know it will go away.

Whenever I went to work the first few weeks and I would have anxiety is go for morning walks before heading to work. And don't listen to music. (If you want to, play music that energizes you). But if no music, listen to everything around you. The wind, the buzzing sound of people or kids or just insects. This helps me calm down before work.

Now, if you are at work, getting anxious, get busy and create a to do list. This will help you concentrate your mind into work-zone instead of worry-zone. Remember, it is temporary and it is not going to control you. You keep telling yourself that. Even talk to it and tell your anxiety to shut up (another method I do).

If you have more questions of the 3 techniques I used, don't hesitate to ask. One technique isn't the answer to all anxiety issues. I actually use multiples ones in a day and that's totally okay. More options to cope with it, the better.

Oh my gosh me too! I’m so scared to start a new job, I start an internship in two weeks and feeling so much anxiety and fear. I’m so afraid I will have insomnia and have a horrible day.

I know at least with me after I get into a routine I start to feel better.

Exactly, you won’t always be new. It will be a new routine before long.
