Waves of Anxiety

Hi,

I have suffered from anxiety disorder for quite a few years. But not on an on-going basis. Lately or I should say every morning now I suffer anxiety which rises and falls almost like waves. It happens as soon as I wake up in the morning. There is a lot of things going on in my life as I’m getting ready to sell my house and move to a different state to live with my daughter and her family. I do see a psychologist but I’m able to get an appointment until next month. I am doing deep breathing exercises. I guess I’m saying I just want to it to stop because psychologically it’s difficult.

Hi srpitman, it's called "free floating anxiety" and it happens when we are under a lot of on going stress. Mornings tend to be the most difficult. The adrenaline levels are at it's highest and emotionally we fear what the new day will bring.

Deep breathing exercises can help but I find that besides that you need to have little respites/escapes throughout the day. Something that will take you to a place where nothing else exists but peace and calm. I find going to YouTube and watching a meditation/deep breathing video can allow that escape by listening to what it is saying to you. When you are so wound up, it is difficult to do this on your own.

Just a couple that I watch are "Sinking & Slowing Breathing Meditation" by the Quiet Mind Café

"Mindfulness-3 min Meditation" by the Honest Guys The soothing, calming voices will take you away just for a few moments to relax both your mind and body. xx

Thank you for a helpful reply. Fortunately this morning I received a cancellation appointment with my psychologist I know that will help but I do plan to go out on YouTube and look at those things that you have suggested. This is also scary at times. I guess I’m saying I just wanted to stop and go away.
