Sad With Our Country

Hello all,

Pardon my touching on politics, but the current events of our country (USA) has me feeling down. Since Trump was elected our country is moving backwards. In the past so much progress has been made protecting our environment and with Diversity. Now it’s all being undone.

Recently Anthony Kennedy of the Supreme Court announced his retirement. He wrote the majority opinion for the legalization of Gay marriage.

Already Trump has elected to replace him with an arch conservative which means Trump will own the high court.

Now the safety of Gay rights, a woman’s right to choose, Immigration and Diversity are at stake. The conservative unpredictability of our country’s legal future has me on a real downer.

I can really use some words of encouragement.

Thanks,

MZ

My words be: I believe in this country, I hope that it is trying times, but we will be ok.

But I totally understand and share your concerns. The most important thing though not to divide people ...this is what I see now. We don’t need that, somehow we have to find common ground to survive as society, and on personal level not to be even more depressed and lonely( when sometimes friendship s break, families break because of different points of view)

I had previously made comments on my point of view...and I have since deleted them, as it's all been said before....

Agree. Scary

Hopefully if he doesn't get impeached he will not get in for a 2nd term. Hopefully the new president will reverse his measures and you can start going forwards again. He won't be there forever. x

I am not so sure. He might win the second term. Economy is good and propaganda is working. And he has congress and senate behind him. We need to vote this November, it is critical...but I am not that all people understand that

I gather you didn't vote for him then faux! :D x

Same. The division in our country really gets to me. I don’t understand how the other side doesn’t see it and it makes me sad for humanity and scared of what’s to come

Women did vote for him though.... I have heard though that if he stood again right not for re election he wouldn't get in as a lot of his support is evaporating. Don't know how true this is. x

in reply tohypercat54

I'm not buying that he is losing support. From what I can tell down here in the South, his base is very pleased. Tribalism.

Fair enough. We are hearing in the UK that he is losing support in the USA. Not saying it is true though I hope it is. x

I hope UK ears are right.

It was obvious from looking at pictures of him and Obama together that they couldn't stand each other. Especially Obama. x

Sad fact is he might actually get reelected, this human child have a lot of supporters

Difficult isn't it? We have similar issues in the UK with our right wing government. They are hurting a lot of people and selling off chunks of our NHS but they keep still being voted in. Wish I had some answers. x

well you got a big win with Boris Johnson resigning, Trumps doppelgänger,....that's a huge plus.....

Oh him. He's horrible and good riddance. We have got to get rid of Jeremy Hunt now - the health secretary. He is moving to a new position though I think as May has lost 3 members of her cabinet in very quick succession. . x

Yes, we must stay together and keep encouraging our nation to heal. Those of us challenged with our mental health really need to be there to support one another. I can certainly use support and encouragement especially that I’m Gay married and my rights could be at stake with such hate that’s running our country. We really need to unite and be positive together.

Agreed. Pence scares me a hell of a lot more. Plus I would venture to guess he’s deeply closeted and hides behind his anti-Gay veil.

in reply toMrZee

You definitely don't want Pence!

I am on your side 100 percent. Trump belongs in the federal penitentiary in my view. Instead he is living off taxpayers in the White House. Send me a private messsge if you want.

I think it is best not to post political comments. They are upsetting and are not what this site is for.

Thanks b1b1b1,

I was weary of that here. It’s just with this country’s change it has me worried which triggers my anxiety. The whole Gay community is on edge too with what’s happened. No one should be treated 2nd class. Anyway, I just needed support with my feeling down about our society moving backwards.

You do have a point there but as the politics of your country can have a direct influence on your mental health I think that should be allowed on a depression and anxiety site.

Having said that while 90% of people can discuss politics in a reasonable way you always get the odd one or two who can get abusive.

Better to be avoided in that case then. They always say never talk about religion, politics or sex! x

Trump knows what scares his base. They are afraid of everyone and everything that is different from them. The Democrats have got to find a way to turn this thing around.

It’s all been done before. Their is nothing original. Time will march on and we shall move ever closer to the grave regardless of who is in office. Don’t let yourselves get tied up in this petty nonsense. You guys are great people and have a lot to offer the world.

I agree with you, Here I Am. The world was ever thus. The most important thing is to take care of ourselves as best as we can and be decent, helpful human beings to those we come in contact with and can help.

in reply tob1b1b1

I am only saying everyone on here are such nice and decent people. I hate to see them sad over stupid politics. We can’t let this world get us down.
