Has anyone tried venlafaxine?

The psychiatrist I saw yesterday prescribed it and I read the reviews online that it is an extremely aggressive medication and that it has horrible withdrawal symptoms. I was terrified to take it and decided not to. Please let me know if you have ever taken this and tell me how it went for you. I tried almost all kinds of anti depressants and none have worked, not even the most used one, Prozac.

I started taking it a few months ago . It is different than ssri that only affect serotonin. This one affects serotonin and norepinephrine and is classified as snri. It works better for me than the ssri try it and see

Hi Meli1992

I take venlafaxine I have done many years the effects are very good they help in a huge way for me but I can't seem to come off them because they work so good I also have propanalol (beta blockers) I've heard venlafaxine is the worst one to come off I can cut down my dosage just can't come off them completely everyone is different though you could be one who will come off them really easy

Take care

Hi meli I take venlafaxine and have had no problem except when I first started them I had a slight headache and a bit of nausea but it stuck with it and I'm glad I did as I feel so much better since I started it! I will say self medicating won't help you go back to your doctor and tell them the problem but I would give the venlafaxine another try regards prozac I wouldn't take that I found I was getting aggressive the longer I was on it please take care All the best David!

Hi I went on them after others didn’t work and although they don’t solve everything I think I would be much worse without them-in fact I know I would because I tried coming off them and was fine for a short while but then went down hill when I started therapy and when I went on them again it seemed to help again. Try them and see. Everyone is different in what the respond to xx

I’ve been on it for about 2 months and I am glad that I started it. I was also scared at first but try not to read all the reviews from others because everyone is different. You won’t know how you will be until your try it. Good luck
