Hello everyone....I am new to group. I am here to meet those who are like me or can influence me. I have PTSD and need to figure out how to live better with it. So far my life has been in and out of jobs and situations....I am quick to remove myself from challenges.
I was attacked in April of 2000 and was to be killed in that attack. Altho I believe I have had anxiety my whole life...I think this attack set me so far back from myself I feel ill never be normal.
I am awesome when you dig in deep. I am Latina...live in New Mexico and have two awesome kiddos. I would love to make some online friends and get to hear some stories.
I am looking to find help with my PTSD. I have lived with it for so long and was able to just deal with it but now I am losing. I am finding myself more and more worried...more and more absent and crying more. I have a child at home with Autism. He is high functioning but I must still provide and keep it going. I need help. I need to finally get myself right. How do I do so after 18 years?

Hello! If you can afford EMDR sessions they really help with PTSD and I know from experience. You can usually find sessions on a sliding scale if you are low income. Check with your insurance company and try to find a therapist that offers it. My sessions were $20, copay. Also Please check out this book: Healing From Trauma by Jasmin Lee Cori. It is awesome. You can probably get it used for a few bucks on ebay or Amazon. (Check both for lowest price) It must be hard to have a special needs child but children like yours are VERY Special souls and of course I know that you already know that! Keep fighting, one day it will be worth it all. There is also a book on Amazon called the Trauma Toolkit. You can get it for FREE on Audio with their FREE TRIAL of AUDIBLE for a month! (You can have it sent to your phone as well as get it on your computer.) I hope these tips help! Your memories of the event(s) are unprocessed and that is why you are still having PTSD. Once they are processed and stored in the correct area of your brain, you will get better. This is what EMDR is supposed to do. You can also look up how to overcome Trauma on the internet; there are many great articles out there, free as well of course if you have internet which I'm assuming you do. I hope this helps and the best to you!
