Hi everyone , wondering if anyone gets woken up from sleep with racing heart . I have been having this symptom around 5am nearly every morning . Don't know if it's connected to anxiety or my IBS . Anyone else have this . Hope you are all having a good day today .

Hi bornagain, my son who has IBS also had severe anxiety in the morning last year, I'm talking about jumping out of bed, sweating, heart pounding, trying to run out the front door. He also has autism, but the point of my comment is we found out he had h pylori and a partial blockage. H pylori increases anxiety significantly especially in people who already have anxiety. How has your stomach been doing?

Hi Robin Renae ,I pray your son is much better now . I get a lot of gas with my IBS C which is usual so to speak . I know my anxiety makes the trapped gas worse , hence the pressure build up . I have read that the pressure can cause rapid heartbeat , also irritates the vagus nerve . As I said I don't know which it is . But can be scary . Thank you so much for your support . So pleased I joined this group . God bless .

Its probably anxiety but go and checked at doctors just to make sure.

Hi Benmaise , thank you for your advice , I will mention it to doc . I do know the vagus nerve can cause it , but just wondering if anyone else had experienced it .

Hi! Yes, I get that sometimes. I’m an extremely anxious person - I was told it’s sleep anxiety. It’s super scary but I always just remind myself that it’s anxiety. I’d get check to ease your mind though, that’s what I did. Got a medical check up, blood work and all. Helped ease me! Hope you feel better ❤️❤️

I agree with the anxiety idea, also we tend to wake around sunrise which varies throughout the year, once the sun is up its more difficult to get back to sleep.

I've suffered from this and have fitted blackout curtains, which do help.

Good luck.
