Started Seraquel

Took 50 mg last night for the first time. About an hour after taking it I couldn’t keep my eyes open(9 pm) I have to wake up at 0430 to go to work, needless to say I’m still a walking zombie. Does anyone have this experience, is this just an early side effect that will go away? No sure if I will take it tonight. It’s being used for anxiety and depression.

I think you are seeing an early effect that will lessen. I take that at bedtime and it is wonderful. I don't take it ahead of time and I fall asleep without issue.

50mg is a pretty small dose. Hopefully by now you are feeling okay. Please see your doctor if you are not good now

I had to cut the dose in half 25 mg as I would just sleep all day on 50 mg. I didn’t tell the MD as I’m figuring I can i can increase to 50 mg next week.

👋 hi ..I’ve been taking it for a year now.. dr. prescribed 50 mg once at night before bed last year but I had to go down to 25 as 50 gave me extreme nightmares and lots of grogginess... Seroquel is actually an antipsychotic usually used for schizophrenia and bipolar disorder but doctors off label it as a safer sleep medicine which did help me but three weeks ago my doctor decided to take me totally off of the Seroquel and try trazodone 50 mg instead ..I’m not too sure about the traz? I’m falling asleep but it takes forever but I do find that I’m not as sleepy during the day on it so who knows.. it’s all a work in progress right?? Cheers 😸

Everyone is so different! Thinking about Seroquel could knock me out for a couple days, Trazadone causes me to be unable to tell if I'm awake or asleep, Xanax makes me sleep but wake up angry, Ambien is wonderful WHEN IT WORKS, Benadryl makes me panic with chest pain, but Phenergan, like being rocked to sleep like a baby.😊
