Going to see a psychiatrist tomorrow for the first time ever. its going to be $300 because they don't take my insurance, but i leave on a long trip for Spain in a week so i have to see somebody.
I really want to be prescribed something because the flight I'm going on will be 10 hours and i know my anxiety will be through the roof as I'm leaving my family and going to a foreign country by myself for two whole months. Hoping the doctor can prescribe me klonopin. How likely is it that he will give me a prescription the first time seeing me? My anxiety has gotten better and hasn't been too bad recently, but i really want to have a medication with me to take just in case.

I would ask questions before going to the appointment. Klonopin is a benzo and the laws and doctors are becoming more strict. I’ve been on klonopin for years and when I went to a psychiatrist the first time I was given a prescription without refills and had to go back in a month for another prescription. I now can get 1 refill but when I went this month I could only get a prescription if I gave a urine specimen.
all you can do is state your case and ask....if it's helped you before...likely your doctor will help you with a script...just depends on them. Hope it all works out well for you.
I think taking urine samples proves the patient is using the medication instead of selling it. Unfortunately, I've been on it for years so getting off klonopin will be awful and I've had too many bumps in the road the last several years.
