5 HTP : Has anyone tried this for... - Anxiety and Depre...
5 HTP
I tried it years ago with mixed results, I would say it seemed to work very well but then didn't but then did again, many people take this and do have good results, I would highly reccomend magnesium and vitamin d
Thank you so much I just can’t come out of this funk , I hoping so much that this works for me I’m so ready to be myself again do you think I can take them together ?
Ah yes these things work very well together, they are all natural supplements just make sure you don't take too high a dose of any of them and you will be ok don't go over 300mg magnesium or over 5000 IU of vitamin d, if you have depression you are probably low in both
I brought L-tyrosine , 5htp, and a multivitamin I was gone add fish oil also I’m desperate to feel better and yes I have depression and anxiety .
Ok cool I would possibly be careful with tyrosine, that can have mixed results, if I was you I would take the multivitamins and get onto around 4000-5000 IU of vitamin d that has vitamin K2 in it as well and get a good magnesium too then add fish oil
What is IU ? And thank you all grab that tomorrow I just really hope this works so I can see the light at the end of the tunnel

International unit is what IU stands for. It's just another way to measure medicines.
Just so you know, if you have any health conditions and are able to talk to a doctor, you can get help with your anxiety and depression from your primary care doctor.
I would ask these kinds of questions to your primary care physician. If you don't have a doctor, does your community have a free medical clinic or mental health center or visiting nurse association that you could contact for help? It can be risky to mix lots of over-the-counter supplements when you do not have medical knowledge. Even asking a pharmacist what to do would be a good idea. I hope you feel better soon. Getting fresh air and physical exercise can help, little by little, as well as talking to someone who cares and is supportive of you. I have been on antidepressant meds since 1984 but suffered for years. Finally, the med I was prescribed in 1992 worked. I'm still taking it! It still works. I have to practice healthy coping skills, too. It's not the pills alone. I have learned a lot of healthy coping skills by talking with my therapist and being in a support group. God bless you and I hope you can get the help you need!
I started taking HCF which helps with my anxiety. I think someone on this site recommended it. I haven't tried htp. I hope it works for you.
I haven't heard of that. I take St. John's wort. It's what works for me. When my depression was at its worse, I took Zoloft. Good luck.
