My panic attacks and anxiety just keep getting worse. I’ve been on 10 mg of fluoxetine for 3 weeks and I feel awful 24/7. I went to the doctor today and she upped my dosage to 20 mg and also prescribed me Xanax for panic attacks.

I hate being on all these meds. I just want to feel normal again...

I constantly feel like there’s something seriously wrong with my health. I obsess over it. It’s killing me. I look up every symptom I’m feeling and what i read just makes me anxiety worse. I need to get past this..I feel so stuck in this anixety trap.

I tried to go outside for a walk today and freaked out. My head and chest started hurting. This is driving me insane. Things I use to do all the time are difficult to do now... why did this happen..why can’t I just go back..

darlarae, this all will pass one day. You are at the beginning on the road to recovery. The meds are just a bridge in getting you to a safer place. Your medication usually takes from 4-6 weeks to reach full efficacy. However, because your dose has been increased, allow another couple weeks to reach full potential. The Xanax will help you out in a pinch should you need it. Keeping a positive attitude is important that you are moving forward towards your goal.

You need to not look up your symptoms since that only increases your health anxiety. Actually you are not stuck, the medication was the first step forward. Therapy during this time can help move you a little faster by addressing the issues causing the anxiousness. The things we did once before will all come back when we get in a better place mentally. (which is what your doctor is doing with medication)

Allow time for the meds to kick in as well as finding other modalities to use while the medication is doing it's job. I use Meditation, Deep Breathing and of course Acceptance that this too shall pass. Once you accept anxiety as not your enemy but a learning experience, you will no longer fear it. As your fears go down, so does your adrenaline and symptoms will start slipping away. Stay Positive and Believe that you are headed towards your goal, Anxiety Free. :) xx

Darlarae. Agora is totally right. Your job is to take one breath after the other and make it thru another day. Thats it! You will get a handle on yourself again! It just takes time for things to start up humming again! You will get to a calmer place inside again. I,m root,n for you!thomas
