I'm new here and I need help

I was prescribed Zoloft at the beginning of this school year and it ended up making my depression and anxiety worse than it already was. I had trouble sleeping at night, going to the bathroom, I skipped daily routines such as showering and eating normally. Does anyone else have this issue? Or is it just me?

Hi ReadableSG, Any antidepressant take at least 4-6 weeks to reach full efficacy. However if the dose was raised during that time, it could take a little longer. Always check with your doctor so that he can re-access the dose and medication. Sometimes it takes a little trial and error before getting the right combination in drug and dose. Let us know what your doctor says... :) x

Hi! Welcome. I recommend revisiting your psychiatrist/doctor and trying a different medication. It often takes time to test them out and find the best solution. Zoloft worked really well for me for about 10 years and then it stopped working, bummer. Possibly hormonal change in my 40s. I ended up trying about six or seven different medications over a year and a half but nothing seemed to work so at the moment I'm trying natural supplements.

I hope you're able to find a medication that helps!

You can also try to take your meds at a different time of day. Sounds like maybe mornings would be best if you’re having a hard time sleeping. I used to take Zoloft and I just started taking again. I’m definitely feeling worse, but like others have said, this is normal and will pass. You should start to feel better soon. You can always reach out to your doctor for an adjustment though!

I was told to take it at morning and before bed and will do!
