Have MMD and GAD for at least 30+ years. Was on Zoloft all those years until it stopped working due to stresses in my life. Selling my home of 31 years and taking care of my mother for the last year of her life. Anyway over the last 3 years my anxiety and depression has come back to the point I was hospitalized for 7 weeks back in March. Came out better but after about six weeks all the symptoms came back. See a psychiatrist who’s had me on several different meds all of which didn’t seem to help much. Anyway just wanted to know if anyone is on Wellbutrin , latuda , gabapentin and Ativan.? Still having anxiety and depression that just doesn’t seem to go away. Never feel happy or joyful and haven’t experienced inner peace in years. Anyone else experiencing this? Thanks so much!

Aussietoy, it is very common for long term medication to stop working especially when
stresses build up over time. Switching meds can help some but you also need to accept
what you can and can't do with the list given you. Now is the time to bring in other methods
that will allow you to take a break both mentally and physically. PACE yourself with all
that needs to be done. We are always here to help you walk this stressful path right now.
Remember, taking care of yourself is #1 priority. xx
Thank you Agora 1 I’m just concerned with takin all these different meds and switching to find the right combo seems to make my anxiety worse. I was on one anti depressant all those years that helped me live a happy and peaceful life and now I feel like I’m constantly climbing up a muddy hill.
I hear you Aussietoy, the fear we have of changes are immense. When my med no longer
worked, my psychiatrist chose the hospital as a place to try out different medications
as well as high dosages. When that didn't work, another one was tried that I am still
on and feel great One medication at the right dose and the right time of day made
all the difference in the world. Unless we try what is suggested by our doctors, we
get no where as the fear builds and we stay stuck. Remember, your doctor knows your
case history and prescribes with you in mind and no one else. A few days of discomfort
can very well equal a lifetime of pleasure. My best to you xx
Sorry about your extra stress, but want to compliment you on caring for your Mother. Seems like that's how zoloft is, it effectiveness decreases with time. I don't know your age but by you caring for a parent tells me you are not elderly. My Mother in law took wellbutrin in the nursing home, was not a good choice there, believe it affected her balance. So for a younger person it may be fine. I sure hope you receive the help you need.
I’m not on any of those meds, but I’m in the same boat as you as far as symptoms go. Everything that once brought me joy doesn’t anymore. I used to do so much years ago, but haven’t had any interest for years. Sad and down pretty much everyday. I wish I could offer some advice, but all I can say is that you’re not alone. Take care🙂
One antidepressent works for awhile and when it stops you try another antidepressent.Do you have a councelor or psychologist? Psychiatrists give out meds but don’t really listen to you. You need both.Kept trying different antidepressants. There are a lot out there. This disease affects our minds and we on this forum understand the deep emotional pain it causes because we have the disease also. We didn’t cause it. We can’t control it, no matter how hard we try. We can’t cure it, no matter how hard we try. We have to treat ourselves with kindness and love especially when you are in a deep depression or having a lot of anxiety. We are here for each other.
Sorry you're going through so much. That was me last year. It was my mother's last year, and we sold a house I lived in for over 30 years. I haven't been on prescription meds for years. I take St. John's Wort, and it helps. (I'm just letting you know what helps me. Get advice from a medical professional before trying St. John's Wort.) Getting out in nature helps too. If I don't have time for a nature walk, I like to look out the window and watch the birds and squirrels or put on a YouTube nature video. Qigong, yoga, and meditation are helpful too, but lately I've been lacking the motivation to do those things.
