I had a husband who would fall asleep while driving. I was always scared to ride with him. He refused to let me drive. He crashed one car. What should I have done?

GM1954, you can't do anything about the past but he does need to be seen by a doctor to find out the reason he falls asleep while driving. It could be caused by medication or a medical problem. That is how you can help keep both of you safe as well as others on the road.

Support him but be firm on his getting help. xx

You cannot go backwards of course, but like another poster, I think he should see a doctor. Does he have possible sleep apnea by the way?

I would have refused to ride with him if he insisted on putting your life in danger as well as his! x

Sleep apnea came to my mind too. I know a few people who would fall asleep at a stop light. A sleep study is helpful to determine if he has any sleep abnormalities. If he is a heavy snorer that could point to sleep apnea.
