my mother and step father are going on a cruise in february . she is forcing him to get minutes for out of the US so she can still get ahold of me . she controlling enough that she can’t even go on vacation without needing or wanting to still have control . my fiancé and i are trying to talk her out of it so i can have free time with him and not be control by mother , i doubt that will happen , but i will try my best to still have a good time with him while they are gone !

no , she said the reason was she wants to make sure i don’t destroy the house or kill the cats ... i have never in my life been a destructive kid or have hurt an animal

That's what she says but I bet it's more to do with being worried about you and how you will cope. Maybe she is too embarrassed to tell the truth or thinks you might react badly to it. Your mother is only a human being like any other you know and hasn't read any books on how to be the perfect mother! Well I presume she hasn't...x

we havent set a wedding date yet , he’s going to finish college first , and yes she thinks she can ground me still because i’m still in her and my step fathers house . i’m going to try my best to enjoy my time with my fiancé as much as i can while they are gone !

That sounds like a plan. Some parents I imagine have a hard time cutting the apron strings but if you've been responsible that is what counts. Enjoy getting to know more and more about each other.
