It’s back.

Been feeling so much better lately. Had my counselling which helped and all under control. Then two days ago the anxiety has come back with a vengeance severely. Keep telling myself that it is just a blip but I am still severely struggling two days later. Panicking now that it is back to stay. Seem to be really struggling more than before to control it. Is it normal to get these blips and how long for? Thought I had beaten it :-(

Am sorry to hear this, can you give a more detailed history?

Thank you for responding. I was diagnosed with Gad over two years ago. Had counselling and was fine until July last year when it started again. I went to the gym, had a panic attack and severely couldn’t breathe and went to the doctors. They said that it was a chest infection so took biotics but it carried on. Eventually got told that it was the anxiety again. As soon as the doctor told me this it became 10 times worse and I was off work for a month. I then went back to counselling. They said that it was panic disorder and I had around 8 sessions which got it under control apart from the breathlessness and a few other physical symptoms which the counsellor said would diminish over time. I have been managing to control it and to stop it before it took hold since the counselling finish in December but I am now back with it as bad as ever.

Anxiety has a way to creep in on us, any recent stressors in your life? My two suggestions would be 1- Get back to counseling and try to get some CBT to give you techniques to cope on the long run. 2- How do you feel about taking medication? SSRIs can work very well for panic disorder, but again it has its own setbacks

I have just brought a horse and am about to step down from my job to a lesser role and I am applying for new jobs as well. I woud have taken all this in my stride before last July. I was given the breathing techniques from the CBT to cope long term but it is not working at all. I have tried Sertraline but it gave me a major panic attack. I was then prescribed Citropram but was too scared to take it. I have purchased some herbal tablets called anxiety x but I dare not even take these.

Hoping all this is just a blip and I will one day feel normal again.

I’m in the same boat. Had anxiety for many many years. But it has been ok for 5 years - little hiccups but not uncontrollable. Then right before Xmas bam! Back so bad I ended up in the ER. I’m back on meds but the phobias are back too. It’s awful and I feel so foolish and like I’m failing. I just hope I can get these back under control so I can do things again. I feel your pain and pray we both see the light of normalcy ....soon!
