just like alot of the life stories I've read here, I had panic attacks for many years before I found the right counselor and drug combination. The one problem I'm still confronting is my fear of flying. I've only flown once in the last 10 years and was on Valium going and coming. Would like to hear from any others with this same fear. thanks!

I had the worst fear of flying for much of my life until I mentioned it to a counselor. He talked to me about all the different sounds and noises and sensations on a plane and what they mean. He also assured me that the airlines use military pilots to fly their planes. Something that helped a lot was his explanation of the plane changing altitude and direction as like being on a highway and changing lanes. For whatever reason it clicked, and although I’ve still used xanax or Klonopin when flying, I’m really not afraid anymore, and I actually like looking out the window during takeoff!
I am positive you aren’t alone. We all have fears of something. For me me fears have been debilitating. I used to ignore them and didn’t do anything. Now I make every attempt to face each one and I struggle and make my self sick. If you can, think about where you want to go , a short trip. Do you have someone to go with you? Make yourself take a flight and try to tune into every feeling, sound and smell, we can overcome our fears but it takes hard work. I don’t have a fear of flying, I have a great fear of getting to the plane. I drive myself crazy. I want to go on vacation my self and see what it’s like
Good luck
