Hello, my name is Brian and I have been a lifelong sufferer of anxiety and depression. I live in fear of people and life in general. This is my first time posting here and would like to meet others who are in a similar situation or who have overcome their anxiety. Thanks for listening.

Hi Brian. I'm Susie and I am new to this site as of yesterday. I have been suffering from depression and anxiety for 27 years and some days are easier than others. I'm in a hole right now........not able to go to work or even shower. I totally get your fears.......I am also fearful of life and people. I live alone with my dog. As of November, my meds stopped working and I'm on a trial of a second med which makes me groggy.

Nice to meet you Susie! I totally understand and sympathize with you. There have been days when I just stay in bed, pull the covers over my head and wish that the world would go away. Most of my social experiences in life have been negative and verbally/emotionally abusive. I've been trying to dig myself out of that hole for years and have been in therapy for a while. I'm on meds too, but I couldn't tell you if they're working or not. I don't feel any different on them but on the positive side they keep my mood level. If you ever need a shoulder to lean on and to talk about what's going on, I'm here for you. Like that Buddhist quote you wrote. :)

Sincerely,

Brian

Hello, I am new to this group. I have many health issues and I live with this awful anxiety, this awful feeling of fear in the pit. Of my stomach. I don't know how to make it go away. I lost over 107 pounds over the past year. I feel scared sometimes for no reason. I get scared going somewhere by myself. Why is this happening time? I only feel safe when I'm in bed under the covers. Some days I don't want to get out of bed and face the world. It is like I am terrified sometimes and its a feeling. I shouldn't be afraid. I have a wonderful husband, two great kids. Why is this happening to me? If I put my post in the wrong area I am very sorry.

I just found a Buddha quote that I like, "Each morning we are born again. What we do today is what matters most".

That is so true. We can't change the past, but we still let it effect our lives. The truth is that the past influences the now, it does not influence the future. The now influences the future, and leaving the past behind is how we move forward.

Hello, I have been down the road of depression & anxiety - bad news. I have overcome most of mine, thru therapy and med's, staying vigilant to my thoughts, When I was 16 I made up my mind fear would not rule my life, and it does not. I would suggest going to therapy, reading any creditable information, look for a support group in your area, good place to go and see others who are suffering and we can trade info. on how we deal with it. A lot of info. on the web. And then of course there are us, we will offer you help and give you Love. Do not waste your valuable time on worry, do not put yourself down, avoid negative people, do not talk about it unless you are in a safe place. People can be unkind and nasty which I am sure you know!!! So I send you Love, Peace, Big Hugs good health.......Sprinkle 1

Nice to meet you Sprinkle! I totally hear what you're saying. I currently go to therapy and have starting looking for support groups. None up here in my neck of the woods unfortunately. I've also started just reading about it. But sometimes, 35 years of verbal/emotional abuse and generally negative social experiences can weigh very heavily on you and be very difficult get out from under. I've started meditation as well, both for anxiety and for ADHD, because I feel like my brain has a million thoughts racing through at a thousand miles an hour and I feel like I get no peace or quiet. If you ever want to chat or to talk about things, I'm here for you.

Sincerely,

Brian

Are you taking any medication for your ADHD? I have been taking Vyvanse for a few years now and it has helped me focus a great deal, in fact, I can't really function without it.

I've tried a wide variety of meds for ADHD but nothing seems to work. It can be very frustrating to feel like your brain is perpetually on overdrive and it won't calm down. Getting to sleep at night can prove challenging as well. I only get about 4 to 5 hours of sleep a night. It can be a very trying time.

Hello Brian, I've had anxiety n depression for a long time to. I have good days n bad n days where i don't want to get out of bed! I've never managed to overcome it but, i do live with it. Reasonably well, these days. Like you i,m not particularly comfortable around People. I do force myself to go out each day n sometimes i have a nice Chat with someone. No chance of that if i don't go out. I find that reading, listening to on-line mantras, arts n crafts and volunteer work help s, anything that takes your mind off it. also. I think it's about finding something that suits You. Rather than Overcoming it. Best of wishes Dee,😊🌻✌️

Nice to meet you Dee! I totally get where you're coming from. I try some of those things too. Comedy has definitely been a source of comfort for me. It really is true that laughter is the best medicine. :)

Sincerely,

Brian

I feel for you. I have crippling anxiety and can't seem to get over it. Are you on benzodiazipines? Are you in therapy? Anxiety is hard to treat. I've had it really bad for the past 3 years. If I find a way to overcome it, I will let you know. Stay in touch.

Nice to meet you Mary! I hear ya and I totally understand where you're coming from. I am in therapy, but it still doesn't really help. What has worked is trying to find coping skills and/or pleasurable distractions that help lower anxiety levels. I've been dealing with this since I was 5 years old so I've learned a trick or two over the years. :) If you want to stay in touch, please feel free to message me here and we can chat :)

Sincerely,

Brian

I have recently fully addressed my anxiety and depression after 40+ years of putting band-aids on it and/or avoiding it in various ways. I have found this site a reassuring place to remind yourself that you are not alone. Therapy and meds have helped me acton in the past month.

Nice to meet you Ferris! Definitely, it's finding coping skills and/or pleasurable distractions that can help to lower anxiety levels. Finding those things that help is key. Each one of is different, but we can share our ideas and, hopefully, we'll mention something that winds up helping you :)

Sincerely,

Brian
