I'm new here, and the mother of 3 girls. The youngest of which was diagnosed with hypothyroidism and is suffering from anxiety, possibly related. She is medicated for the condition (Hypo.) and I am trying to figure out how I can help her not be afraid at night, home alone, and shut her brain off at night and sleep.

Good evening...
omgosh, it put my photo here!
I would recommend finding a hobby that she loves and I will calm her down.
Hi 2Marbles! Ugh! The darn thyroid!!! I can relate. I would consider using calming hot teas. Epsom salt baths. Low technology exposure so she doesn’t amp up. Avoid scary stuff, ie news😏
When does she take her medicine? Is she taking it 1 hr before food or any other liquid except water? How is her vitamin D?
Have you tried omega oils? Fatty acids are so very important for our brains and anxiety and depression. Most young people take Barlean’s Omega swirl with gusto! Great taste!!!! (Ask your Dr first!!!)
Hoping something here helps. Hugs momma
She and I are both taking Vitamin D....cuz oy, this winter w/o sun is killin' me too! And you know, I'm not sure when she is taking her levothyroxine, she took over the management there as ya know she's a teenager and well, they know everything. I'll ask her to make sure. Thanks for that heads up. I asked my doc and he wasn't really concerned with the when....but we're going to hit up the Endocrinologist next and get some real tests done.
I'm going to looking research that omega oil and ask the endocrinologist about it! Thanks you!
I worded that wrong!!! Kids that I know and even adults I know, who refuse omega’s from fish (icky taste) really like Barlean’s omega swirl. After re-reading in my first post I felt I needed to clarify. If you do go ahead with this as a little expirament, give it a cpl weeks to really notice a change. And let us know your expirience.
Going to an endocrinologist is a great idea!!!
