Anxiety vs. panic attacks
Not sure, but I've had both. From what I understood from what they told me was..it was Anxiety..
and my anxiety would cause me occasional panic attacks if I didn't control it (control it? How do I control it? Hah)
Hi honey Flemons_k
I often question this I suppose one you use strength and the other is control but then I think we have to use both on both subjects maybe there's no different between the two except I think anxiety lasts longer
Thanks Nat
anxiety is constant, a panic attack is urgent, sudden and is a release of adrenalin. feels like terror and is extremely frightening.
I agree with Deborah 27. Anxiety is always there. Panic attacks are caused by allowing the anxiety to get out of control. They can seem to come out of nowhere too. Panic attacks are scary. After having one, I try to think and reason out why it happened. I do use avoidance sometimes too. For instance, I know bridges will put me in a panic. So I take a different route. But I can mentally prepare for it too. Or if that's not possible that day I can use my meds. Hope this helps you to know the difference in the two.
Yes. A panic attack can occur without an anxiety disorder- if you are under stress or an unfamiliar situation, your body goes into fight or flight and that can trigger a panic attack. Anxiety is the constant state of fight or flight, ad in some people can manifest daily, which is then called Generalized Anxiety Disorder, or if it has a specific trauma area, such as social situations, it would be called social anxiety. Anxiety often causes panic attacks, but one isolated panic attack does not mean you have anxiety- however a pattern of consistent panic attacks can signal something else going on.
