i probably don't have any advice you haven't heard before and not a lot of experience with really bad panic attacks, but since no one's here yet:
- holding your breath and counting to ten before breathing again can help with hyperventilation
- inability to get a breath might be eased a little by pouring the panic into something else, like tapping, squeezing a pillow or soft object, or moving in some rhythmic way?
- please please remember that if nothing is working to ease your breathing or if you start to feel the effects of oxygen deprivation, call 911 (or 999 if you're in the UK)! panic attacks are nothing to be ashamed of and even though help won't get there right away, they can at the least help you recover from the aftermath. if you can, it would also be good to call a family member or friend -- better safe than sorry!
