I am new here. I have been battling anxiety and depression all my life. I didnt start taking anti depressants until I was 40. The first one they put me on was Prozac...and WOW what a change! I felt so much better. Then that stopped working and from there I have been on all of them. they work for awhile, they quit working, they up the dose, and on and on. I am 64 now, and I feel like my anxiety is so much worse than it has ever been. I am still working, and my anxiety is worse there. I have been there for 7 years, and there is one girl that always makes me feel inferior to everyone. She wont talk to me some days, but she talks to everyone else. then my mind starts to race and I think omg what did I do or say to make her mad. Then it just spirals out of control. I get nervous and start making mistakes and I want to cry. I cant find anything that helps. I am not sleeping very well, and that just makes it worse. I have tried sleep aids but they dont seem to work for me. I just got engaged to a wonderful man, and I should be happy, but I just feel like im gonna mess it up because of my problems.

Hi Sooootired,
Welcome to your forum
I hear what you are saying. I have been through quite a list of meds too. From personal experience I can confidently say:-
Medications don't work 100% for everyone.
Medications can also stop working.
Sometimes you achieve better results combining them.
Sleep can be a wicked problem to deal with.
My suggestion is that your may need a medication review with a psychiatrist to look at both medication and other options such as TMS.
There is newish medication Vortioxetine (Brintellix) FDAA approved in 2013. Although a SSRI, works in a different way to the others on the market with the idea of improving congition. It could be worth a try. I am about to try it myself, although not yet on the PBS in Australia.
If you are at work, does your employer have an employee assistance program (EAP) that you could tap into? The program is designed to provide 5-6 free confidential sessions with a psychologist - no topic is off limits.
In regards to your sleep, have you ever had a sleep study? The sleep study is a non-invasive, overnight exam that allows doctors to monitor you while you sleep to see what's happening in your brain and body. Specialist doctors investigate snoring, sleep apnoea, narcolepsy, restless leg syndrome (RLS) and parasomnias which compromise your quality of sleep.

Wow! I am new here also and when I read your post I thought you sound just like me. I am sure you have not done anything wrong at work, some people just know how to get the best of us. We just can't let them. I hope you find some meds that will work for you again. Hoping for the best for us both!
