I'm a new bus driver. I start two new routes tomorrow. I am on anxiety and depression medicine but they dont always work. The anxiety is usually worse than the reality. However, I worry I will do something wrong and be fired. I am totally alone and have no one to help me if things go bad at work.

Work anxiety
Worrying def causes anxiety ! Yeah I know ppl at work who take anxiety medicine and are still anxious . So I never let myself go that route . I Also understand that my thoughts and my worry cause my anxiety and I know medicine will not change my thoughts , only I can . It's extremely hard to train our brain to think differently but with practice it's not impossible ! I am sure nothing bad will happen !
Hi Ray6935,
Please remember that you are never alone, especially at work.
You can check in with the radio operator if things get too hairy.
If you need some extra support there is the Employee Assistance Program which confidential and free.
If you can identify the possible issues before they happen you can work out the practical solutions. Even write them down and carry the note in your wallet.
Fawn Fitter wrote an excellent book called "Working In The Dark". This provides a reassuring, informative guide to dealing with depression on the job. You'll get a lot out of Working in the Dark by reading it and thinking about the concerns about dealing with mental health issues while working, maybe even taking notes and using them for that difficult conversation with your manager.
I do the same thing. Know that you have come this far in life. You got the job. You have people depending on you, you can so do this, believe in yourself. If one person can do it, do can another...know that you will be fine.
You have us just try and stay calm take slow breathes it really helps when u develop a breathing technique
