Change of meds

Hi my mind is all over the place ATM I've currently on the middle of changing my meds? Everyone around me has said I've got a attitude problem can this be the change of meds or am i just a bitch everyday

I don't know if your a bitch every day.. but do you yourself think it is the meds?

in reply to

I don't know all I know is the meds I am on now aren't good for me

in reply to

Wait for a few days and see if you are still a bitch.. If its the meds then you might not be a bitch once the new ones kick in, if it isn't the meds then you are just a bitch every day :D

in reply to

It will be at least five six weeks of not longer before I am properly on my new meds

in reply to

Ok, that's a right while to wait.

in reply to

I'm on mirtazapine 30mg for two weeks then mirtazapine 15mg for another two weeks then I'm going on to venlafaxine once a day for two weeks then two a day after that 🙈

in reply to

you have to get the old stuff out before you use the new stuff?

in reply to

Yep it I think that's what is it tbh I've been so low past week or so

in reply to

I hope the new meds work, but while you are reducing the old ones will you feel worse for a while?

in reply to

Thank you so do I and I hope not but I've got a funny feeling that I will get worse for a bit

in reply to

You might get worse but you know you will have the new meds soon after.

in reply to

I just hope I agree with these new meds I'm still looking for ones that suit me

in reply to

How many have you tried?

in reply to

Oh I've been on so many I can't remember them all

in reply to

You are bound to find one sooner or later.

in reply to

Fingers crossed

in reply to

I was just about to say that :D

Adele 1983,

Good morning! Med switches can be a bugger! I have a few suggestions, but as they say in AA and alanon, "take what you need and leave the rest!" Perhaps none of what I say will be useful, that is your choice🤗

1.Are you exercising at least 30 mins a day? As in even a brisk walk (like trying not to miss a plane, train or bus speed!) If not, perhaps start with that. Maybe call a friend or family member to go with you so you are accoubtable and have a pal!

2. Are you keeping a tight sleeping schedule? Same time to bed, same time to rise, no matter what? Keeping screen time off one hr prior to bed?

3. Eating a healthy diet and watching sugar and caffeine?

4. Making time to be with positive people? Volunteering for those in need. (It is amazing how helping someone else in pain lifts ours and can change our attitude, at least for a bit! )

5. Journaling 3-5 things a day you are truely grateful for. Even the most basic things we often take for granted: clean water to brush our teeth, glasses (if you need them), shoes (even crappy ones, better than bare feet all day everyday ) I happen to be able to hear, so hearing any and everything! Especially music that is huge for me and my attitude/mood!

6. Counseling. The studies show meds without exercise, sleep, good diet AND counseling are NOT at all as affective as with those things. If money is a problem area, contact the local county or state Social services and they can connect you to someone that works on a sliding scale. Or perhaps a church.

7.Research EFA's and mental health. I love Udo's 3,6,9 oil and really do feel like it helps a lot.the research on EFA's are vast and are peer reviewed and dbl blind studies.

8. Get up, showered (yes!) and out the door asap! Even if you have no where to go except a library, coffee shop, the mall (to people watch) volunteer, of course your job if that is your sched., and try not to lay around and isolate, trapped by thoughts! They are just that-thoughts-not reality!!!

Perhaps one of these things will resonate with you, perhaps not. Good luck during this time. Remember to breathe (!) (check out Headspace or Calm-free app) and learn to breathe! I still totally stink at it, but know for a fact it works for me and several other sufferers of overthinking/worrying.

You will get through this!!! Take care of yourself during this time! Self care is needed and ask those around you for understanding and support as you grow through this!!!!

This ends my Novel😂😂😂

Pearl67 thank you so much for this reply I will definitely take on board these suggestions I am hoping to get my push bike fixed so I can at least go out for a bike ride I can't remember the last time I slept properly it's been a while I have been asked to maybe start volunteering which I may take up and I've never wrote a journal in my life I'd be to scared to write down what I'm actually feeling but thank you from the bottom of my heart thank you 😊

in reply to

Hi there, I have to say I wholeheartedly agree with Pearl67. My med change caused me to "crash and burn" big time, three trips to the ER it was finally discovered I was having a reaction to the new ones. It's been a long road to zero and if I'd been doing all the things Pearl67 pointed out it wouldn't have been so hard!! Be proactive with your life and take her advice! ! As far as journaling, just start out with listing the things you are grateful for, every little thing. You will be amazed how much just that will help you. Happy thoughts make happy attitudes! :-) Good luck!

in reply to

Thank you and sorry for late reply I'm definitely crash and burning now

Every time my Psych Practitioner changes my dosages or the entire med, I expect to have 1-3 days of completely losing myself. Now that I know what to expect, I prepare my family and co-workers. The hard part for them is to give me space yet still keep an eye on me.

in reply todannygette

I've noticed I'm more snappy and get worked up over the slightest things and so have my family I just can't wait to be on my new meds now

Keep busy, expect the best, you will be better. Being snappy isn't the worst thing in the world especially since you know why!

in reply to

I know what it is and why but I wish other people understood

Unfortunately!! Most people don't understand unless they've been there. Like people in this forum who struggle..Stay positive.

in reply to

Exactly it's so hard explaining depression and anxiety if u haven't gone through it yourself

Effexor is GREAT! It helps anxiety AND depression...WOOT! But it can make your heart feel a little racy when you first start taking it or increase your dose. I take 150mg extended release along with 20mg Adderall ER right when I wake up. Until you are used to the Effexor make sure you eat something when you take it; I used to dry heave if I didn't. Just a little advice. Through it all, though, it is my favorite anti-depressant that I have ever been on. I hope that you have as much success with it as I do.
