I have often wondered how I can get over my depression when my situation has not changed. I take meds but I still have the same problems. Medication will not take them away. I need to get a life but I do not know how. Truth is , I don't know how to have fun.

I NEED TO GET A LIFE
Hi,
I read a quote somewhere that said something like "How do you expect things to change, if you keep doing the same thing".
So it is great that you want to change. I know it is scary to know where to start so here is some suggestions I can think of.
Why not restart a hobby you used to do.
Take an evening class.
Join a local fitness class.
Take up a new hobby, something you've always wanted to try.
Why not do some volunteering
Hope these suggestions help.
Take care and good luck with your new challenge.
The previous comment was right on target.
What lights your fire? What are the few things that you enjoy thinking about doing? If you don't know...try browsing through your youtube...interernet...facebook or Pinterest history. You may uncover some talents or passions of yours that should be pursued!
All peace and love.

Hi GloRose,
I can only agree with 20Voices but I'd like to add that "fun" can be so many things! Me, for example, I don't like too many of the traditionally "fun" things. I am a total geek and like fantasy books, LARPS, gaming, sewing and dragons....yeah. And you know what? I like it so everyone else can just bugger off. I have met like-minded people and one of the best things I know in the world is to sit together in a room, design and sew the new costumes for the next event and have a glass of wine whilst listening to really odd medieval inspired music. And it is FUN! All I am saying is look beyond traditional "fun" and find your own fun. Like Distantecho1989 said "what lights your fire?" Good luck and let us know how you get on! Big Hugs Xx
Oh you sound like me. Begging for happiness. Been so long not sure I would recognise it. Meds not working and tired of waiting for life to return to normal. I feel for you ❤️
I think meds are fine in their place but the way for long term solutions is counselling.
Why not watch and study other people having fun and see what they do? It might give you a guide. That's how I learned to make friends - by watching and studying others.
Having said that it's very hard to enjoy anything with depression. x
