I have anxiety about all this money I owe to people. Let alone my $2,000 dollar loan that I am 52 days behind on....... what do I do !!!! All I can do is keep paying it but what else can I do?

Well I don't know about where you live but in the UK there are Government debt agencies who help out with this. What they can do here is intervene and give you good advice to help you sort the debt out. Do you have anything like this where you are?

Don't they have debt counselling services over there? If not then I am stumped.

Hi Pjmmtr01,

I am sorry to hear that you are having financial stress.

The loan arrangers need to know upfront and honestly that you are having trouble repaying the loan. Contact them to see if it is possible to restructure how you make the payments. You might have to do some negotiations. Most loan arrangers prefer to have some repayments coming in rather than chasing you through legal means.

If you are having mental health issues, perhaps your doctor can write you a letter of support.

Financial counselors are usually available in community centres.

The other thing is to consolidate all your debts into one amount and see if you can get a cheap(er) personal loan rate. There are lots of comparison sites on the internet.
