Getting free from Mental Health Services

Hi, I was detained for 2 weeks under section 3a Mental Health Act in 2012; I have ESA regulation 29 & 35. I am at home under Section 117 MH Act. How long does this go on for and how do I get my freedom back?

Hi Gladwell,

I am not familiar with the Mental Health Act that you are quoting.

I do work in government so I expect there should be a review process of some sort and patient rights within the Act itself.

Most Acts are available online so you should be able to get a copy.

Do you have a social worker/counsellor appointed that could do the research for you?

Hello, I appreciate your reply; however, it is my so called support workers (Social services, "care Co-ordinator") that keep pushing me back into treading water. Rather like a loop; everytime I get on my feet; am accused of being ill.

Career on hold, Private Life on Hold, no earnings and I feel constantly analysed' as soon as I speed up to get on with normal (for me anyway) speed of thinking and talking, they try and sedate me. God knows I have had enough of being jeered at and stalled.

I'm not familiar with these statutes either. Do you live in the U.K.? This is a very unfortunate situation and you do need an advocate.
