Question ???: Hi all I've been given... - Anxiety and Depre...
Question ???
Hello hollie85,
Citalopram belongs to the selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors class of antidepressants (SSRI).
They are used for anxiety.
Lots of people have success with their anxiety being treated with an SSRI but everyone's body is different and what suits one person may not suit the next.
Do you know the cause of you anxiety?
Another option could be talking therapies if you are in the UK? Again, lots of people find counselling, especially cognitive behavioural therapy helpful to enable them to control their anxiety.
Personally, I'd give the tablets a chance, they may really help.
May I ask why you don't like taking tablets?
Best wishes 💗
Hi clazzy78 my anxiety kicks in when I'm worrying brain feels like it don't want to turn off with me not talking tablets if I could do things naturally I will trying all different things to do with anxiety changing diet and more excercise x
Hi Hollie, I took Citalopram for a year and a half to help get through a particularly difficult period of depression and anxiety. I personally found it really helpful in managing my emotional state and getting through the day. While on Citalopram, I also began counseling and this enabled me to eventually transition off of the medication and develop other coping strategies. If you have the opportunity, I would suggest coupling medication with therapy, support groups or anything else available to you.
Take care and be well
Citalopram works fairly well as an antianxiety but it does make you fairly nauseous after a few weeks. It's easy to get used to tbough 🙂
To some extent. For some reason I got moved to Sertraline, I may have got too used to the Citalopram.
