Does anyone have any coping strategies?

Does anyone have any coping strategies for dealing with suicidal thoughts? Mine have been getting worse and worse. I can't seem to ignore them anymore. I have a dr appointment on the 12th of May but I don't know whatbto do until then. Thanks in advance.

Breathe, take a minute. I know it sounds cliche, but think of the people who love you. They would be devastated if you went through with it. Think of all the things you haven't had to do, those things that you have always wanted to do but you haven't had the chance e.g. fall in love, travelled, met other wonderful people. Postpone your decision for 48 hours, if something remotely nice happens around you or to you, you have to restart the 48 hours. Get out of the house and take a walk, cooping up in the house may increase your anguish because you might feel claustrophobic. Do something you like.

I hope it helps and wish your doctor appointment goes well.

I put mine off by making decision when I get up that today isn't going to be the day I do it. I make that decision every day one day at a time.

When that doesn't work I trawl through suicide sites looking for painless ways to do it. By the time I am finished I have lost the urge for that day.

Well, I'm not going to lie but I've felt the same way and there's no sugar coating this situation. I can't tell you to snap out of it or stall. I guess if you want to just talk or vent, you can message me or reply to this message. We can talk about you or anything you like

Hi Goldfish, sounds like you should check yourself into a psyche ER. Suicidal thoughts are very dangerous. Mid may is a long time away. I suggest that you check into ER asap for an evaluation. Let me know if i can be of more help or if you want to talk. Kathy

I would agree. It's not scary, and you'll be safe and able to get the best help. I've done this and even though it was 2am they had the sweetest people come help me, and my recovery started that night. It's the smartest thing to do.

OH I can SO RELATE! It is terrible, isn't it?? Sadly, I have no advice, but know that people DO care. It is an awful feeling to have those thoughts, but knowing there is no painless easy way keeps me going another day. Sigh. Sorry I am not more help :-/
