Hi there! I'm new to this but I figured a good support group of people who know exactly what im going through w anxiety and stress and depression could really help me. I have some days where I am fine and then others where I can barely function bc of anxiety. I literally get down with it to where I'm pretty ill and immediately start thinking the worst things are wrong with me.....from a brain tumor or aneurysm to cancer. Makes you feel like a prisoner in your own body and is completely miserable. I've been suffering with anxiety for almost 10 yrs now and have been to therapist and on meds and actually went off my Zoloft last August and within the last cpl months it's flared bk up again. All the hard work of getting better just went down the drain. I believe my mother passing away 5 yrs ago this May was my big trigger. At least there are people here who know what I'm feeling and can relate and maybe even be able to help me out! Really glad to hAve found a support group. My body fells a hey all the time along with my neck and jawline. I get all the numbness and tinglin on my face and behind my ears and in my pinky and so dizzy and lightheaded. Just makes me feel downright miserable. Do any of you do this as well?

Hello. I first had anxiety in 2000 never thought about it until it appeared again in Jan 2017 and yes I keep thinking the worst any part of my body twitches I think the worst. I also have had 2 family members who have died of cancer which my therapist thinks is a link. Your not alone in this web site and should get relief from others.

"A prison in your own body" is exactly how I feel sometimes. It comforts me to know I am not alone. I am glad to find this site where I can say how I feel without worrying people's judgement

Big life events are a trigger. The goal is to have more good days than bad ones. Take it day by day. I have many of the symptoms you describe and it makes for a trying existence. I constantly stay busy and exercise a lot. At work, I try to make someone's day a little happier just by helping with answering their questions. Continue with the therapy and realize you may actually be on Zoloft for life. Not necessarily a bad thing.

I haven dealing with anxiety since 1999. I have a couple of times since that year where it became so bad that I couldn't function anymore due to change on medication . My mom had a very bad health issue and spent 15 years in a bed which contributed to have even worse episodes of panic. From my point of view this is what I know:

1. Anxiety is not a weakness , it is a real disease so please don't blame yourself or listen to other people stupid comments about your problem . People that has never had it don't know what they are talking about.

2. Anxiety is not your enemy, it's who you are. Please accept it as part of your life and don't pay too much attention to it.

3. Anxiety and all the events in your life that might have contributed to you being anxious and scared and out off control are not a weakness. They have made you a better person , more understanding of others feelings and well being. Take the good o art out of your experience, use to make something good, help others understand what they are feeling so they might find some comfort.

4. Medication really helps but it might take a while for docs to find right med or med combination.

5. Medication alone is not enough , cognitive behabioral therapy will help you desentized yourself from all thoughts that might trigger anxiety . You basically have to retrain your brain to think on a different way

THOUGHS ARE NOT FACTS, don't ever forget it, they don't define who you really are consequently the ones that bother you are not important.

6. Take care of your body and exercise . Donsonebaerobi exercise , walk fast , your body will produce natural endorphins that will make you feel better.

7. Be grateful fir all your blessings and get on a habit, remind yourself everyday of how lucky you are and name each of them in your head.

8. Forgive yourself if you don't succeed at everything , and believe that you can get better because ines I thought life was not worth living and I will tell you that you can get better . You can do it if you put your heart to it, I have no doubt.

Wish you all the best

Very well said! One of the hardest parts of dealing with anxiety for me is not losing hope and being patient with myself. The anxiety doesn't define me, and I have to remind myself not to get frustrated when I have a really bad day.

Yup. I feel this way too. It is totally miserable. What is crazy to me is that when I'm fine, its hard to imagine like how did I feel that bad? And now in this moment that I am feeling bad, its so heavy and I don't see how its going to free me.
