I don't know about your depression and anxiety symptoms but I was puzzled when in IOP sessions, we were told to try to do something we love when we were depressed.
When I am depressed, I do listen to music but that rarely helps un-depress me. It instead helps settle my mind into its new state - the depressed state. I don't know that many people who when depressed would tell you that the song "because I am happy" is anything but noise. Lol
When I am anxious, I busy myself with trying to calm down and activity to raise my heart rate only serves to make the situation worse.
