I have been diagnosed with anxiety and depression for some time now. Lately I've had trouble working. I am afraid to go to my job. Any suggestions for resources or anything that would be helpful?

Hi daninil

Sorry to hear you're struggling getting to work, do you feel that your Anxiety & Depression affects your work, or that you don't want people to know you are struggling with Anxiety & Depression. Or do you feel like this because of your work? Are you able to explain a bit more??

I'm a teacher and I don't do well with crowds. I have several classes that are overflowing and it triggers my anxiety and gives me panic attacks. I am literally afraid to go to work.

Hi Daninil

That must be really difficult having that type of job & the way it is affecting you at the moment! Did you want to be a teacher? Has your decision changed since you trained, or is it because class size has increased? Are you signed off work? Have you spoken to your boss, has your Dr arranged for you to speak to a counsellor or therapist? Do you think that that may be helpful to talk to someone about how you are feeling & what's going on for you? Are you taking any medication for your panic attacks & anxiety have you spoken to your GP about getting some sort of support! As it sounds like you need someone to be there for you & able to listen to you without judging you! Sorry for all the questions!

Sending you Warm Wishes

Go to your HR department and take advantage of EAP. See a therapist for your troubles.

You have some good advice here. You seem to need to utilize your EAP option at work. Hopefully through your EAP appointments you will be able to determine whether you need to see a doctor about your anxiety and panic attacks. I know how scary this all must be. I'm sorry that this has happened to you, it's a miserable situation. Through counseling and possibly by seeing a doctor you can get better and recover your good health.
