Are you a worrier? Have you worried yourself through these last few months? If so, that could explain the increased anxiety. Or maybe your health issues included annoying pain or some other very uncomfortable state. That would do it, too. That's reasonable and to be expected. Your anxiety should decrease as you feel your problems are handled well and you start to feel better.

I have GAD, too, and this is how it would affect me. The added stress would show in my anxiety levels. I hope that is all this is and that you'll soon be back to normal. Let me know how you're doing a few weeks from now, will you please?

I'm glad you have this counselor and hope the exercises are helpful. If not, you can always try to have the counselor take a different approach.

I had Xanax at the very beginning just to establish my diagnoses but for the long term I've only had 2 meds: Tranxene/clorazepate and Klonopin/clonazepam. I was only on 1 at a time and each for about 14 years. I used to get around the clock coverage by taking my prescribed dose about every 8 hours. Now I don't even need that much and I take 2 small doses at 8 and 16 hours apart.

Sure, no problem listening to you. That's what we can do for each other. When you asked what I'd tried, did you mean types of therapy and not drugs? If so, I have to change my answer.

Either thing

OK. I told you the drugs, so this is about the therapy: I had the therapy part at 1st from my very 1st psychiatrist who was fantastic. Then I had a gap of time open when he moved his practice to Hawaii. Looked over a PhD who just wasn't right for me and then found my current LMHC of 17 years who's practically perfect! I have been blessed throughout these 29 years. Both were Christians which just made us even better matches for each other.

I just adjusted my clonazepam down to 0.5 mg 2 x day. I hope you are doing better with your physical and mental health issues. Both are so important and affect one another. Take care.

Blessings...
