I've heard that it can be, or maybe it is a separate disorder. your doctor should be able to tell you for certain. My cousin is bipolar and she takes anxiety meds, along with others.

Bipolar is a type of depression. Depression and anxiety always go together, even if you can't see the link at a given moment. So yes, bipolar depression is linked to anxiety. All depression is linked to anxiety sooner or later. Some people can be treated for both with only an antidepressant and some need both an antidepressant and an anti-anxiety med.

What are typical anxiety meds?

Some typical meds for anxiety can be short term, like Xanax/alprazolam, or longer acting like Tranxene/clorazepate, Klonopin/clonazepam or Ativan/lorazepam. All of these are benzodiazepines which are minor tranquilizers.
