Hi, My name is Sharon and i have anxiety. I feel very alone in that i cant seem to find anyone who seems to have anxiety to the extent that i do. I sometimes wonder if Im an oddity of sorts. I dont seem to fit the more understood feelings of the disease. I feel so far beyond that. Does antone else fell that way?

I understand.

I think that there are people out there who feel like you do, but they are just hiding it because of the stigma. By all means, you are not alone. I feel that same way. I look at other people and a lot of them seem to be so happy without a care in the world. But then again, anxiety & depression are "invisible" conditions, it's not like we have crutches or a rash or something that would show that we have anxiety. No one can tell; people put up a good front.

I would like for anxiety to be talked about more. Hopefully more people will "come out" as having it. so it will be more accepted.

No you are not alone. I hope you are getting some kind of treatment. I wish I could find some anxiety group. The closest is a bipolar depression support alliance and I can be hesitant about going to that because of the stigma, but that feeds into the cycle (of hiding my conditions, shame, etc.), when it is a medical condition & should not be hidden.

Hope.

Hi Sharon, I can completely understand how you feel. And I'd bet that a lot of people out there would also feel alone in their struggle with anxiety. I am one of those people myself. To me it seems like the world I'm in is full of people who are perfectly normal and I'm the one oddity out of the crowd. I also have a mix of depression with my anxiety, and I find myself having a hard time relating to others who are fighting anxiety because I don't always experience the same feelings. But I've come to realize that it's okay to have different symptoms or feelings because I won't be like everyone else. Everyone is a completely unique person with unique feelings so we will all struggle with anxiety in a different way. But hey, you're not alone in this. Don't be afraid of explaining how exactly you feel or think. Having other people understand how you feel with anxiety could help you feel better about it too. Hope I helped you a little Sharon, and good luck.

Hello,

I do understand. I have struggled with anxiety and fear most of my life. I fell earlier this year and broke my kneecap and wrist. Because of my anxiety disorder I have developed a terrible case of PTSD. I think that is very hard for some people to understand because PTSD is associated with Veterans. You are not alone!
