Dear friends thank you for your support over the last three month. It certainly has been turbulent. But today I finally escaped from the hospital. Have now been in hospital of the trust. 4 hospitals in all. Enough is enough. Back home having carers coming in 4 x a day. Hopefully that will work nicely. Poor husband is still in care until I can look after him again. So to cap it all. Since November had two ops for the cancer. Last one while in A F. Than a strangulated hernia. Now repaired with open surgery, And on leaving the hospital started to have a stroke in the car home. Next day couldnβt lift left leg or arm. But I am still aroundππ The Churchill hospital rang while was in hospital so they were informed of my situation. As a result of the last biopsies they would like to try with BCG treatment. Unfortunately they will wait to get me in a state so I can cope with it, I am just happy that nothing much will happen for three month. At least doctors are giving it a good shot trying to preserve bladder. So fingers crossed. Going to try and sleep now, which was impossible in the hospital. So once more I survived. Rienij xx

Wonderful to hear that you are home Rienij - that should give your spirits a lift. Let the carers take the strain and look forward to having your husband back with you.

So glad you are home. Your courage and continued humour are definitely inspirational. Best wishes for your recovery x
Just what so many of us need, waking up and reading a touching and also an inspirational story. Thoughts of healing are with you and as someone else mentioned, make sure you use the carers the way YOU want. May the next period of your life be smoother. x
You really have had a bucket full.
I hope that now you are back home you can regain your strength and hopefully be able to get better soon.
I totally agree about the difficulty of sleeping in hospital, being home will make all the difference now.
I only ever had a long stay in hospital when I was 11 years old, I was in for 6 weeks. At that time it seemed like a lifetime to me. I still remember how wonderful it was the day that I got home.
Best wishes for an improvement for you.
Pete
You are such a strong minded person I applaud you I would have crumbled away by now Makes my worries seem so small
I don't know you but you sound amazing and so positive, an inspiration to us all. I hope you can enjoy your time at home now with your feet up and time to reflect before your husband comes home. Positive thoughts and good wishes coming your way. πx
Rienij70- there is no place like home and I am so happy that you are there! You are doing fine and everything will work out. You will be ok.
Do hope your recovery goes well. With four carer visits, the television and, please, some regular updates for us, you will find the days go fast. Cyber hugs coming down the line from me.
Great news Rienij70, hope you get your husband home soon, kind regards Heather
Good onyer Rienij, one fantastic lady!!
You all say such nice things. Thank you ππ
You are amazing. One of my closest friends has had bowel and bladder cancer and now has BCG treatment for the bladder. She is surprised how quick and easy it is to cope with so fingers crossed that you find it the same.
Hope so, they have postponed it for 3 month, as it causes frequent urgent trips to loo. Difficult with walking frame. But at same time glad of respite. ππ
I can only pass on how it affected my friend. The 'wash' took only a few minutes. She then had frequent trips to the toilet for the rest of the day with some discomfort, similar to cystitis. After that she was fine. That day was a write off as there are strict rules about bleach and use of toilets etc but nothing too difficult. After chemo for her bowel cancer she was really scared and worried but now thinks nothing of it although it is ongoing. The first time she had it done I dropped her off at the door of the hospital and went to park. By the time I parked and got back to the hospital she was walking out having already had it done! I took her a few times but it was always the same and now she pops along by herself. She always had plenty of time to get home and she does not live that close to the hospital. Good luck and I hope you find it reassuring.
Bless you Rienij, what a journey, pleased to hear you are home with plans in place to support you and your husband. All the very best wishes for some calm times ahead for you both. Take care and well done being so stoic throughout it all. Best wishes. X
Thank you, spoke to my husband bless him. He asked should he try to escape to help me. Changed his mind when I told him that I couldnβt cook dinners. πxx
