Hello Everyone,

I read this forum every day and get very valuable information. Thank you so much. My hats off to all of you for sharing your experience and knowledge here and providing much-needed knowledge and compassion to each other.

History:

First diagnosed @ age 71 in August 2019 (By a Physician).

The biopsy results (October 2019) were 5 of 12 GS 10, 2 of 12 GS 9, and 5 of 12 Benign.

PSA 3.5.

Scans Results: Only one Met Increased uptake in S1.

Genetic test: negative, MSI High

Three MOs reviewed my case, and they concluded that although I have a high Gleason score, based on CHAARTED and LATTITUDE, I have a low-volume, low-risk disease (no visceral involvement, 1 site of bony disease). So, it was recommended that I follow the STAMPEDE trial.

Treatments:

1)Lupron shot every 3 months, effective December 2019.

2) Abiraterone 250 mg with a low-fat breakfast

3)Radiation to Pelvic for 4 weeks

Started Keytruda on 10/22/2024 Infusion Number 1 or C1

Side Effects: For the first two weeks, I had horrible Nausea and brain fog. From the third week, back to normal.

November 18, 2024. PSA 0.1 (went down 90% from October number)

December 3, 2024 Infusion Number 2 or C2 PSA < 0.04 (The lab gives the smallest number.)

Side Effects: Muscle aches. Needed Advil. No more GI problems or Brain fog.

January 7, 2025 Infusion Number 3 or C3 PSA < 0.04

Side Effects: Muscle aches. Occasional Advil.

January 28, 2025 Infusion Number 4 or C4 PSA < 0.04

Side Effects: Muscle aches. Occasional Advil.

Scans are scheduled in February.

Life Style:

Exercise: Walking 4-5 miles/day + workout with a trainer

Diet: Plant-based + Fish every other day

Note: Getting Keytruda infusion is a piece of cake. Only 30 minutes session.

So far, I have lucked out with no significant side effects. The Oncologist recommends every three weeks for two years. That's a long way to go. We will see what the future holds.

Current Treatments:

Keytruda is administered every three weeks, and ADT injection is administered every three months.

"I read this forum every day and get very valuable information."

C'mon now admit it, it's the humor!!!

(BTW Keytruda worked for my melanoma lung metastasis, which was not related to my Pca - No side effects at all).

Good Luck, Good Health and Good Humor.

J-o-h-n,

Thx. How long have you been on Keytruda? My MO is telling me to take two years. Isn't that a long time? I'm just worried about some of the life-altering effects.

And I know you read my husbands story of stage 4 cancer mskcc nyc giving me 5yrs to live, then the Msh2 mutation ONLY 2 doses yes 2 doses and in June 6yrs undetectable. So I have high hopes you will do the same, impressed with your dedication to good health overall, walking, eating right he does none of it. As top dr at Mskcc he will die from something other than cancer. Now diabetes is causing kidney prob, afib, cirrhosis yet he doesn't care. I wish you only the best if I can share anything more I'm happy to but sounds like you are off to a great start, keep running the race

FYI, I have been very fortunate that Dr. Morris has been my M.O. since 03/18/2008. Your dear Husband is fortunate too.

Good Luck, Good Health and Good Humor.

Always nice reading your reply. For a few years Dr Morris gave my husband over to Dr Autio bc he took on new role i guess in Washington DC but still in nyc. I guess bc my husband is stable (cancer wise) but if he's needed could be consulted. And yes my husband and you were truly blessed with his knowledge.

Congratulations! You are a super responder to Keytruda. Go for the full two years. I understand your unease about side effects. It is good that you are vigilant as quick action by your caretaker will be needed to inject hydrocortisone and get you to the ER in time, if Keytruda attacks your pituitary messaging pathways. Three years after the two years on Keytruda, my husband is much better than he was after chemo. His current memory problems have multiple possible causes, given all that he has been thru. He is happy and pain free.

I just read about your husband’s journey. My goodness! He has gone through hell. To tell you the truth, after reading what the side effects of Keytruda did to him, I am scared to try another infusion of Keytruda.
