Docetaxel/Taxotere. 2nd time in 3 years. It's a no go this time. No benefit after 3 infusions.

A cancer work around making a good treatment plan not workable.

Good news is although PSA kept rising during infusions scans show no new growth but no shrinkage either. Same old diffuse bone mets I have always had. Current PSA at 80.

Brief history PSA 11/2019--1,621. Bone mets diffuse from skull to shins. Lymph nodes throughout torso. Lupron and 6 rounds Docetaxel 2020. Started Zytiga a year later. Zytiga failed about 3 months ago. Started 2nd time with Docetaxel about then ( about 2 months ago).

We shall see what suggestions MO and team have in coming appt. I'm hoping to continue to try SOC treatments in sequence rather than jump on the Pluvitco bandwagon right away but of course the suggestions from my MO will be key to decisions. (Jevtana, Xofigo w/provenge, even Xtandi ? As hopefully the Docetaxel I've just had or if I get Jevtana the chemo's will "resensitize so that Xtandi is viable" after the Zytiga I've ran thru).

Meantime a nice Christmas break from the chemo crashes, some recovery before hitting "IT" again.

Happy Holidays!

Cheers!

Oh dang Bruddah, my series of Taxoteres didn't pan out, and neither did the Cabazitaxel. I kept asking about adding Carboplatin, but was denied. Maybe that will work against your stubborn PCa or resensitize it to become susceptible to Abiraterone

Camps, Glad that there is no apparent sign of increased activity. Fingers crossed that the next round of treatment resets your cancer's sensitivity to treatment. Have a happy holiday season and build some reserves for the coming year.

Add to your list, the combination of a PARP inhibitor+Xtandi, maybe after chemo:

Much appreciated.

That paper is quite interesting. Enzalutamide with a PARPi.

Thus, inhibition of PARP with a PARPi drug and the addition of an antiandrogen may synergize to inhibit AR signaling and prostate cancer growth and survival.

I'm in a similar situation, only with Jevtana. My doctor agreed to give me one more infusion before Pluvicto starts in January, mainly because I complained that things seemed to be getting worse faster since I stopped chemotherapy.

I'm not sure how well Jevtana is working for me, but it seems to at least be slowing down progression and providing some pain relief. I think "working" is kind of a relative thing. "Better than" may be a better way to look at it.

My doctor and I agree that Pluvicto is a better treatment so that's an option for you as well. I might eventually retry chemotherapy although after 11 cycles, I feel like I've kind of had it, especially if it's not doing much.

Thanks yes Pluvitco will be in the mix. Just havent had Xtandi yet and interested. Some chemo in between my Zytiga failure and starting Xtandi was something I was looking at.

I know you were having some pain that the Jevtana would lesson soon after infusion but wear off. Hope your doing ok.

Your mention of "Better than" made me laugh. "All things considered" has kept coming out of my mouth since dx lol.

I did add the Xtandi to my chemotherapy and it seems to have contributed to the pain relief as well stopping my PSA rise, at least temporarily. It feels to me that I left that time where I could say things work or don't work and it seems more muddled now. I'm taking a lot of pills and chemotherapy and the side effects are almost impossible to tell one from another or what's causing what. I call it "side effect soup". It 's becoming the mix of stuff where I feel like it's just putting the treatment(s) benefits on one side of the scale and all the rest on the other (SE, QOL etc.) and try to see which way it tips. That's where the "better than?" comes from. Sometimes, it doesn't seem like there's necessarily a right or wrong answer although I keep asking the question.

Not what you're looking for?
