Although many men have good success with Pluvicto....my husband had 3 treatments of Pluvicto but unfortunately his PSA rose consistently to 515 and the cancer continued to spread into his bones. They took him off of the Pluvicto in July and started Chemo - Jevtana and Carboplatin and 10 treatments of Radiation. PSA has dropped to 385 (who would have thought we'd be celebrating 385!). He is stopping the Chemo and going to start BAT therapy this week.

Does he have any pain from the metastasis?

He had considerable pain in his femur until he had 10 treatments of direct radiation and pain disappeared thankfully.

Good to hear.

Same thing happened to me I was at 1.56 at the beginning of Pluvicto and after the 3rd treatment it was 20.83. I stopped at 3 treatments and just started Jevtana and Carboplatin. My PSA is starting to fall now. After 1 treatment it's now 19.83

I just finished last of four treatments in Germany and PSA less than .1. Waiting for psma pet scan in October. Will update my bio later this week.

Great result! Do you mind sharing what was your PSA before treatment, which clinic did you go for treatment and what was the cost?

PSA has not been a good indicator for me. It was .33 when I started and is.08 now. I chose treatment based on significant increases of the cancer in my back hips and lungs as shown on several psma pet scans after Zytiga failed and I refused chemo. I treated at Bad Berka clinic in Germany at a cost of $17500 per treatment. I could not get treated in the states and received higher doses in Germany. My only side effect is lowering of platelets from 171 to 95 over the course of treatment. Psma pet after two treatments showed significant reduction in all areas of cancer. Hoping for even better results next month when tested again.

Thank you for providing details. Damn, those prices are crazy 😣. I wish you continued success!

Why did you refuse chemo?

Flyfisherbug profile image

I believe, and my doctor agreed, that chemo carried out to failure, makes Pluvicto much less effective. I believe there are trials underway right now, to show if this is true. I did not want to wait through a full course of chemo with all its side effects to be able to be able to get the Pluvicto and have the insurance companies finally pay for it. I failed to be accepted in any of the trials. Having gone through it, I believe I made the right choice, even though it was a very big financial hit. Except for the platelet issue, I went through treatment without side effects and continued my walking, weight training twice a week and daily one mile swim.

Thanks. I'm right at the decision point of having failed Xtandi what to do next. SOC on the NHS is chemo and pluvicto is not available so I would also have to fund it. You've given me food for thought.

christinepierce@theranosticscancerspecialists.com. Dr Almaguel is in California., and maybe Florida. You should check to see if you qualify for the trial I couldn’t. It did not require Chemo like so many do. I suggest looking at all available trials before moving on to a new treatment

Thanks, can you give me a link to the trial or tell me the trial number?

Thanks, yes I thought it was probably the SPLASH trial. Unfortunately it's not recruiting in the UK.

FYI - my husband had his three Pluvicto treatments with Dr. David Diamond in Winter Park over the last 5 months.

Good luck on your journey. I completed my LU-177 a month ago. My PSA went down after each treatment from 18 to .01 at the end. Wondering how long this effect will last.

Perhaps it would be a good idea to have a PSA done to see if the infusion is helping.

DH ‘s PSA dropped from 194 to 14.3 as of latest labs after 6 infusions. He had two PSAs done between each infusion. I surprised that doctors have not followed up with PSA in your lab work.

I am going today to Mayo in Rochester for #4 of six treatments, My PSA has always been very low to undetectable, so the scans have been most important. I’m including two scans. The first scan, with this post, is taken prior to my first treatment. My subsequent post (I couldn’t figure out how to include two images in one post) will show the second scan that was taken after two treatments. I’m praying this continues.

January 2023 PSMA Pet scan, prior to treatment.

Thanks for posting!!! My mets are increasing, PSA <.5, on Xtandi after Zytiga slowed it's effectiveness. MO mentioned Pluvicto, based on you sharing I am in with hope

my scans are remarkably similar. Hoping next scan shows all gone

Interesting your PSA has been low to undetectable with mets. Were you metastatic when diagnosed and if so, what was your PSA at that time? Congrats on your progress on scans.

I just completed my 6th infusion August 17th. My PSA has been undetectable fine 3rd or 4th. I was hoping I could hold of the final 2 but they said I had to complete the full 6 treatments to remain on the clinical trial- PSMAdditions I still have lots of pain in shoulders, both iliac bones, throughout pelvic region, both legs all the way down to my feet but they will not give me another PET Scan so not sure why the pain even though my MO says my cancer is “dormant”. I am not sure I believe them.
