Psa rising

My father diagnosed with metastatic prostate cancer after turp on Dec 2017 his psa 228 high due to surgery

The doctor started calutide daily with two shots of zoladex in Jan and feb 2018

After that he did not prescribed zoladex the psa on April 0.987

Psa on sep 2.4

Psa on Nov 11.3

Now this time doctor prescribed zoladex shot with casodex and said if psa does not fall we move to chemotherapy.

As his age is 64yrs and also has chronic liver disease.

I am very worried about him

Can zoladex and casodex combine control psa . Or it's end because he is not in the state of chemotherapy .

Please guide me.

Lupron and casodex can control PCa for years..might not be able to use Zytiga because of liver

But maybe bipolar testosterone might work. I wouldn't think it would affect the liver????

How does bipolar testosterone work....the way I understand it...you get a 3 month shot of Lupron and after 3 months go on high doses of T for 3 months...or use DES for 1 month and high does of T for one month

It seems like it probably works. Poshea I believe is using it one month on and one month off.

Sartor I believe, is experimenting on just jamming it up high for about 3 months.

I think you really need to find a Doc that worked on the original trial if you want to find a Doc with the balls to try it.

Casodex & Eligard worked exactly 8 months for me before I became hormone resistant. The mets have increased greatly and I have started on doxetacel.

Bottom line : What works for some, may not work for others.

It has been discovered that early use of chemo increases survival in men with multiple metastases. Sometimes Zytiga can be used, but I don't know if it is available to him where he is. His liver enzymes will have to be monitored closely.

Docetaxel puts a real strain on the liver and kidneys. He will need to have those functions closely monitored if the doc goes that way. Make sure your oncologist knows about the liver problem. These guys don't always talk to each other.
