Good morning! My son has ADHD and is extremely hyper which tests out patience. He says thing that are rude and crazy and we don’t think he really realizes what he is saying or doing. Has anyone tried magnesium with b6 and had good results? If so how much of each? He is 10 and takes focalin during the school day. We have tried a lot of different vitamins and companies that we either notice opposite effect or no effect at all.

Magnesium and b6
So let me start off by saying I don't know anything about Magnesium with b6. And based on your post you want to treat the remaining symptoms that Focalin is not helping with by adding a natural remedy.
Have you considered a different medication other than Focalin? If he is taking a stimulant and it is the correct dosage it should balance his brain better than what you are describing. There are a few options you should consider here. You can change his medication to a different stimulant such as Vyvanse. You could remain on the same medication but add another medication to help with the symptoms that Focalin is not helping with. I'd also add that he be on an extended release version of whatever stimulant he is taking so that you don't see the withdrawal of short-acting medication.
Also, is he sleeping well? A lack of sleep will dramatically affect someone with ADHD.
I apologize in advance if what I am suggesting is something you have already attempted.
Thank you for your response. He is currently on focalin car and only takes focalin if needed to get through homework. He also takes Prozac which has stopped his anger outbursts. He also take omega, vitamin D and Thorne vitamins daily. He does take Prozac and melatonin at night for sleep. He is such a sweet kid but when he is hyped up he says the most disrespectful things and is like a show off thinking he is better than everyone else at sports and such which he isn’t some superstar just an ever age kiddo. I know he has lost friendships because of his behavior without it being said and it breaks my heart. I just want him to make better choices when he isn’t medicated and calms down which I read magnesium and b6 can do that. So I was curious of others have tried it and their experience. Because hardy nutritionals did not work for him and was very rough taking 12 pills a day he also tried brillia which had an opposite effect on him.
Hi. Since he takes Focalin during the school day, do you notice if it helps with his impulsivity (saying rude things, etc.)? Or is that behavior worse when he doesn’t take the medication. If the medication doesn’t help at all with the impulsivity, I would be sure to discuss this with his doctor, as another medication may be more helpful.
Non-medication approaches that may help include mindfulness. There’s tons of stuff out there for kids his age. I like the Sitting Still Like a Frog exercises. The audio exercises are available free here: shambhala.com/sittingstilll... There are also lots of great apps he could try. Learning to “pause” before reacting can help with some of the impulsive behaviors that go hand in hand with ADHD. Movement breaks and regular exercise can also help a lot!
Magnesium can definitely help with relaxation, so that may be worth a try. Natural Vitality makes a powder and gummies, both called Calm, that my kids take (I can’t say that I notice a huge difference, but they take it at bedtime to help with sleep). Many people with ADHD are low in B6, so I would suggest asking his pediatrician to test his vitamin levels so you know how much to supplement. A great book with lots of information on how diet, sleep, and supplements can affect ADHD symptoms is “Finally Focused” by James Greenblatt.
Good luck and hope that helps!
Keep trying I don't know if you want to try Adderall or ritalin or the new one is Evekeo which subject is your kid better at math or reading keep him into sports
What time of day do you give the calm, B6 and magnesium. I am looking into that combo.
