Focalin

I noticed this also with short act Focalin, but more since starting Quillivant XR. She seems more short fused with frustration than previously (noted with both Focalin and Quillivant XR. ) When these concerns were mentioned to the psychiatrist, she switched from Focalin to Quillivant XR.

My son (11) has been on Focalin XR for about 2 months (5mg the first month - no effect, and now 10mg). We've noticed that around 7pm, he often can get super down and sad. It's not every night, but it's at least a couple times a week.

He increased her Focalin to 30 mg and if her mood has not improved, Prozac will be increased as well. I am aware some people experience an increase of suicidal thought or self harm. I’m looking into a second opinion at this point. I’ve outreached the Amen clinic.

I’m hesitant to change, though, since Focalin is working well throughout his school day. Any thoughts would be helpful, thank you in advance!

My almost 12 yo son takes Focalin xr plus 100 mg of Zoloft for anger/anxiety/emotional outbursts. (He takes a very small does of Guanfacine at night but I don’t know that it does much) Lately his attitude is very crabby/cranky/angry.

Hi everyone, I finally got my wife to get our son on a stimulant, Focalin, but it increased his impulsivity; we noticed and so did his teacher. He was on Focalin for 2 weeks and then we noticed a large increase in impulsivity.

Anyone with a child taking Zoloft and Focalin (or other stimulant)? Would love to hear the experiences of others, if possible. Thanks!

We recently switched my son from Focalin to Adderall. This is the first time switching from methylphenidate to amphetamine for him. He has always been a pretty good sleeper. Since starting the Adderall he can fall asleep fine but has each night woken at midnight and again around 4am.

My daughter (13) has been taking Focalin for about a year on school days for adhd Inattentive type. Her main issue is forgetfulness: forgetting assignments, and forgetting where she puts stuff. She’s nearly always missing something like a sweatshirt, etc.

Her doctor recommended a mild stimulant called Focalin for her treatment. This medication seems to be a newer option, as it wasn't available when I had considered it for myself in the past.

My daughter, 10, has ADHD and is on Focalin, which has been working great overall. But we still can't get out of the house in time! She has absolutely zero sense of urgency, and no matter how much time we give her to get ready, she needs every last second of it, plus another few minutes.

He is currently on Focalin XR (15 mg) right before school and short acting Focalin after school (7.5 mg), We have found that the long acting Focalin does not seem to last more than 5 hours and the short acting lasts 2 hours max.

He started on Focalin 5 mg in May and we seen a great improvement in school. We chose not to give him anything at home because we felt as though we could handle the behaviors. However, now they have bumped his medicine and changed to the generic of Focalin 10mg XR.

As an example, we previously tried Focalin which is also a mix in but she didn’t like the texture (beads?) and refused it. Major tantrums. I am anticipating insurance will force a switch to generic Vyvanse soon for cost reasons. Thanks!

I’m on Focalin XR (was on Concerta but switched because it was such a pain tracking the Concerta down). I think the Concerta was slightly better at helping me through the transition but the Focalin is fine otherwise. I take the pill at 7 ish, so clearly it’s wearing off by 6.

We have him enrolled in a highly ranked private academic school and once we became aware of his behavioral challenges in school, he started taking Focalin and things got better. Academically he's a straight A student, 2 grades above in math.

My 13 year old has been on focalin er for years which has been great for him. But lately we've been struggling with behavior.

Focalin XR low dose increased to 15 mg and then 5 mg at lunch, worked for a week and then the wheels fell off and his anger issues were terrifying. Switched to Vyvanse and that made anger even worse.

She has been taking Guanfacine ER 1mg at night since 7/8/23 WITHOUT Focalin and she seems nicer and easier to deal with. I haven't been making her take Focalin during summer camp, so she will eat and not lose any more weight (she had lost a couple of pounds).
